It's been law here in the UK for a few years now that dogs legally have to be chipped - it amazes me just how many still aren't. As for cats, there is talk about making that legal here now as well and I welcome that - all mine are chipped anyway.

BUT!!! the big but is who actually monitors it? Many vets don't routine scan anyway which I think they should.

Well while shopping in town this afternoon we saw a woman with a FERRET on a lead ??? why would you ??

The scanning should be law too, Ria, as it makes the compulsory chipping far less effective :? I follow a FB page that campaigns for it xx

They should, I thought they did? All of my cats were chipped (not that it did them much good, as neither Smudge or Mopsy were ever found :( ) I applaud the law that would mean if a cat is run over, the driver has to inform the authorities.
