Good customer service

Postby Osc » 05 Nov 2019, 10:44

I had something nice happen yesterday - I was getting my eyebrows tinted and was telling the beautician about the very bad reaction my skin had to my last facial, not complaining but just telling her, it was my own fault as I had a reaction to a previous one and should have followed my gut instinct. However, this was part of a two facial deal and my skin seemed to have recovered. She was most apologetic and says that the new products they now use are much better, not perfumed, perfume would be a problem for me. So she gave some samples of the new products to try at my leisure, to see how I get on with them.

The beautician is based in my gym, and later in the day, she phoned me to say that she had had a chat with the gym owner, and they were happy to offer me a free facial :) I said I had not been looking for that and she said “well, all the more reason why you should have it”. The gym is owned by E, who lives just down the street from us, and it is quite women oriented with a beauty room and hairdresser. E makes a point of knowing people’s names, even the oldies like us Silver Sneakers, and her great customer attitude explains why the gym is at full membership - she employs lovely people too and it contributes to a really friendly atmosphere.

Well done to both E and the beautician. Good customer service is so easy to achieve and good for the company as well. I have lost count of the number of places I will not use because of bad service - Virgin, are you listening?

So, Osc, get yourself off for the freebie facial, not that you need it, ;) and don't forget to mention how pleased you are, so much so that you have passed on the good word - they might throw in a free nail job. :D :D :D

that is really lovely. Enjoy that facial when the time comes

Frank is spot on - good customer service is key and actually not hard to achieve. But I think it is equally important for customers to acknowledge excellent service; not just always complain.

That's really good, Osc, and of course they'll benefit from your custom in the years to come.

As for Virgin, well, the bigger the company (whatever business it's in), the poorer the customer service, I'm afraid.

Over here, we have MEO. They are the government company, so apart from Vodaphone, who have to use their network, we're stuck.

Their customer service is dire. Think the worst dire you can think of, then treble it.

They will ring you at 11.00 at night, trying to get you to change to another tariff.
