Mrs O has a small, annoying mouth ulcer, so asked in the chemist today for some Rinstead pastilles. Apparently they were discontinued in the UK about 11 year ago …..

The alternative pastille is something called Iglu. But 24 pastilles for £6.97???

Iglu are quite good apparently, Doreen uses them. That is awfully expensive though

Blowing a hooley

9.35pm and fireworks are still being let off, it's been going on for over 4 hours now

And as its the last weekend of Bonfire Night, which is now a removable feast, is this the last weekend of fireworks - Diwali, Eid, Hanukah?

I actually like fireworks, so could not care less. Our pets cared not one jot and our Alsatian dog, Max, loved to bark and whine at every Roman candle, rocket and sparkler.

The whole Guy Fawkes thing has been pretty muted this time. In previous years, the Lions have put on a professional display at the local rugby club, but this year they've been unable to secure the neighbouring farmer's field for overflow event parking, so it's been cancelled. And there's hardly been any "back garden" fireworks either that we've been aware of.

In contrast to your dog, Frank, we seem to have a particularly neurotic network of pooches around here, judging by all the wailing on local social media in the run up to 05/11. When we had a pet dog, she was pretty oblivious to it all from what I remember.
