My husband is in love!!

Postby Osc » 19 Jan 2020, 16:24

........with his Instant Pot  Almost every meal in the last 10 days has been cooked in it, with the thankful exception of sausages and chips when the children were here on Thursday. Today he even experimented with rice pudding, which tastes gorgeous, it has eggs in it so is lovely and custardy. I think I can put up with this other love in his life though, as he does do most of the cooking ;) He has done ham, chicken, fish, chilli, pasta with meatballs, pasta with sauce, potatoes for mash, no big failure yet :) It’s really easy to clean too which is good as I do the cleaning up!

My n-d-n is a sous chef (soon to be Chef de Cuisine) in a rather large and posh hotel. During the summer he will use any excuse to cook al fresco out the back... usually for big groups. He raves about his damned pot.

His wife is also a big fan... for making yoghurt. She makes gallons of the stuff in different styles and loads of wacky flavours, which she is not shy of trying out on any passing neighbour. :o

However, I think they are a bit too big for only one person so it will still be the stove top for me, and I have found a way of making yoghurt in the slow cooker.

Saundra, it is relatively easy and makes super tasty, and super cheap, yoghurt. I'll put up a post in the Kitchen board.

Jan, have a read of this.

Osc is talking (and others are raving) about these, but beware, there are multi-cookers out there that are NOT pressure cookers as well.

Frank, there's a 3 litre one available now which is perfect for one.

Actually, I've got two
I've been using a big 8 litre one for over two years now and I bought a 3 litre one when they were introduced last Summer. The small one is ideal for single portions for John's work lunch or for rice or noodles when there's something to go with it cooking in the big one, or even for 'boiling' eggs.

I can cook a lovely casserole in about 30 minutes, and that includes using frozen chicken breasts.

Osc, isn't the rice pudding lovely, and so quick and easy! Cheesecakes are good too, and the yoghurt is beautiful.
