I'd always assumed that too Ria until Joe was wondering and I checked it out.

Good afternoon chaps.
Changeable weather here. We've had blue skies followed by grey cloud and thick wet sleet and now it is dry, but still with an icy wind.
We've been shopping and I've given Sergio across the road a jump start. (Well, I've given his car a jump start to be more accurate). He's got a new battery on the car but it is a fourteen year old Renault Clio. The engine is still good to go but he has been beset with electrical problems with it lately. I'm half expecting another call today or tomorrow.
FiL has rung up wailing that no one has been to see him today. Actually the carers have been, the man who delivers his meal has been and the carers will be back this evening. MrsC made it clear she wasn't going so straightaway he asked what his other daughter was doing - she is at work. I wouldn't mind but this is a typical week.
Sunday - Sister in law visits. Monday - MrsC takes him to relatives. Tuesday - day off. Wednesday MrsC and SiL go over to work around the house and go and get his shopping for him. Thursday SiL goes over. Friday MrsC visits, Saturday one or both go over to see him. So usually he sees his daughters every day but one and he still moans. MrsC has arranged carers, arranged meals, arranged a cleaner and we take him to all hospital and doctors appointments, get his prescriptions, do his shopping (and fix his tv, lol).
And he still moans.
Rant over!
Jo, I ever knew that about debit cards. I prefer to use cash out of habit plus it is simpler for me to keep track how much I have spent. If I start the week by drawing out £200 then I can count what's in my wallet and work out how much I've spent. With a card I'd never remember.
Plus, I enjoy counting the money!
A simple thing but it gives me so much pleasure!

Afternoon everyone :)

Jo that was lucky! Becky had her Deliveroo account hacked yesterday, and some transactions were made from it in London  It all got sorted and she's ordered a new debit card, but it's a horrid thing! As to contactless, I use it a lot, and find that after a few transactions in a row you are requested to use your PIN instead, as a security precaution.

Mick is still off work, so we're out and about today. It's a very cold day, but beautifully sunny 8-)

Love to all xxx

I'm glad she managed to get it sorted Kaz. It's worrying when your on line provider of a service gets hacked.

Cromwell, I use a freebie called Acemoney Lite to keep track of my debit card spend. I used to let shops file my receipts for me in their container but now I take them home and log them. I check online with the bank once a week to keep tabs.

Jo, I refuse contactless for just the reason you describe.

I also have a pre-pay credit card that I load up if I want to buy something. If I ever lose it or it gets nicked only the balance can disappear and that is usually a tenner just to keep it active.

Crommers, reading about your FIL reminds me of my friend, Anne's elderly mum, she is also very demanding! She sees one or other of her daughters every day, sometimes both at once, and still she moans! What is it with older people?? I've not seen Anne for a couple of weeks as she has had a much needed holiday after her mum had a fall in November and fractured her hip....imagine the hoo-haa that has caused! Hopefully we'll get the chance for a catch up this Thursday, at Aquafit.

I'm working but again today, no clinic, so this morning I tasked myself with sorting out a set of drawers.....mistake!! I made a long job for myself, lots of NHS stuff from years ago, but I'm not sure if it's good to shred or have I to keep? So I have kept....we're moving premises soon and it's extra to move (not far, literally two doors us, but much bigger and brighter than our current one). Along with the usual phone answering and repairs etc.

I almost always use contactless, it's really too easy isn't it? Was reading something earlier that said older people used cash in preference to cards, and they're also more likely to go into a bank to do business, whereas the young'uns do it all online. It was very interesting, to do with (and I don't know the right term for it) the generation names.....If you were born between 1944 and 1964 you are a Baby Boomer, 64-79, a Generation X, 80-94 a Millenial, 94 to now, Generation Z. I'll see if I can find the link - I was interested anyway!!

Check yourself out!! :D 8-)

Weather here is cold and sunny - lovely winter day :)

Gal, she sounds like Lilian, one of MrsC's multitude of relatives. Lilian has always been looked after all her life; she always saw herself as a lady of liesure and is also very demanding of her daughter these days.
Lilians mum was MrsC's great aunt, Auntie Annie.
One day Auntie Annie had her coal delivered and Ruth (MrsC's mum), got the coal in for her. As she was shoveling the last coal into the coal hole Lilian turned up, dressed in a lovely outfit and jewels.
"I must be mad!" thinks Ruth.

Btw, what's the limit on contactless for one transaction, does anyone know?

Oh he's quite a bit better, thanks Crommers :) He has an extra bit of bone on that knee (apparently his dad did too, according to D, although he wasn't troubled by it) causing ligament problems, hence the pain! The physio he went for helped, and he has exercises to do daily. No op required, luckily :) xx
