Bit of excitement here this evening, in the pub next door they are filming scenes for a new Channel 4 series which has apparently been written by Domhnall and Brian Gleeson, the sons of actor Brendan Gleeson. We just saw the two of them filming a short scene running up the street. Brendan Gleeson and his wife live fairly locally.

I ordered some printer inks. The expected delivery date was Friday the 14th.

Today is the day I go to my little old lady for her speech therapy and when I got back just before 12 pm there was a missed delivery card through the door from Royal Mail...

The sorting office shuts at 13:00 hrs so off I went only to be told that the parcel was still in the van with the postie and he had started his next round, so now I have to go back tomorrow.

Ah well, the expected delivery date was Friday the 14th and so it will be.

How annoying Frank, it used to be that you could collect from the depot the same day I think but now the cards I've received more recently say that the item will be available the next working day.

I received a letter of apology this morning for Royal Mail's poor service which I posted about last week, and it says that there's a book of stamps enclosed as compensation....except the envelope was empty apart from the letter

How exciting! We'll look out for that

We both thoroughly enjoyed seeing Brendan Gleeson in Stephen King's Mr Mercedes. He's a great actor.

I came back to find the microwave clock blinking, the printer squawking and the TV and DVD player standby lights flashing.

The idiots building the new flats over the road needed to turn the power off to swap out the mobile generator and make the final connections to the new places but did not tell anyone which day or at what time, they just went right ahead and did it!

The tenants association email page is full of complaints. Fortunately they had done all the prep and the power was only off for twenty minutes or so, but come on!

Frank, I once turned a tap on at 1am to find no water. I called South Staffs and was told that they were doing maintenance in the area but hadn't bothered telling anyone because not many people would be affected during the night.
