Good morning Tuesday

A place to chat with friends, old and new

Good afternoon, everyone!

Pleasant day here, after a deep frost overnight, but quite a lot of high cloud now so not exactly sunny. Nevertheless, we were able to take a short stroll after lunch, just "round the block" and didn't encounter anybody. Our household bin was collected this morning (very early!) but not the food waste. A separate lorry came round about an hour and a half later, and having gone outside to rescue it, I was able to have a chat with our neighbour opposite and wave at a couple of others in the road. P. opposite is lamenting that he has put on half a stone because J. has started home baking and has produced some enormous cakes! Otherwise all seem in fine fettle!

Well done with your allotment, Ria. Normally I'd have been buying vegetables plants and growbags at this time of year, but whilst the local nurseries have started a delivery service, I think I'll be having a fallow year.
Hope you got your shopping OK, Crommers. Like Cruiser, I'll be up to the local shop tomorrow to see what I can scavenge for the Easter weekend.
Jo, I think they have said they will not collect extra household rubbish down here. Whether that changes in future, we'll see.

Gal, is there a smaller shop you could use, like a Co-op? I feel much safer in ours than I do in the huge Sainsbury's

Definitely + 1 on this :D

Take care, all.

Afternoon all, it’s a gorgeous day here although chilly in the shade. I had my post op checkup this morning (I’ll update on the Health board) so we were very excited to be going out, I even put on full make up  Edward was not able to come in with me so he enjoyed a good 20 minutes walking around the grounds in the sunshine. The roads were lovely and clear, whoever thought you could enjoy a trip to a hospital! After we came back, Miss Osc called with the children while they were out for a walk, so we had a nice little chat while observing social distancing of course. Edward is busy making some ginger biscuits which will be nice to have later. We have got another delivery slot so that is the next three weeks covered, which is good.

I managed to order enough geraniums for my pots and baskets, using a company called Crocus Club :) Up to two weeks for delivery, but that's ok.

Been a really warm day 8-) and although it's been cloudy, no rain.

Walked down to our nice neighbours house - Grumpy has to reach the key, I'm too short  so we had a wander around their garden, checking the plants. Because a couple of them are under a porch thing, they were very dry, so we'll pop down twice a week and water them. The rest is set up with irrigation, but their weeds are huge, so I might pop down sometime and just pull them up.

We planted our five cuttings so that will make the bank look lovely and colourful when they spread :D

Lovely to go out, isn't it Osc :D

Gal, I agree, if you can manage with a smaller supermarket, you'll feel better. We're going into Ourique tomorrow and I'll be doing a huge shop - means two visits to make sure we have enough beer  and then if I need anything, like water, I can go into our one other small supermarket.

I’ve just cut the lawns, the Winter flowering pansies which didn’t show their faces and were very nearly pulled out a few weeks ago are looking lovely at long last.

That site looks good Kaz, I’m not sure which company my Mom uses for plant plugs but she’s got loads on the go plus tray upon tray of seeds that she planted herself so she said we’ll be good for bedding plants. We usually go to Penkridge market for a few trays too, some of the local small nurseries have stalls there but it’s doubtful that this will be cleared up by then for the market to reopen.

I suppose that the council are trying to collect as much as possible while they can in case bin collections slow down and people resort to fly tipping. It certainly looks like people are using their extra time to have a clear out. The scrap van has been up here twice this week already and taken various things that neighbours have left out for them.

Tom went on his way home from work, bless him  Just to a smallish Lidl which he said was quiet, and no queues outside, but they didn't have a lot left, so he got what he could. I could pop to our local Co-op in the village, might do that tomorrow (and pay over the odds!) as an interim....I really must go out soon!!! That said, I went for a lovely long walk again today, further than I did yesterday and stopped to speak to a couple of people....I say 'speak', it was more 'shout' from the 2+m distance, so that was nice.

My pansies have flowered just very recently too, Jo, they do look sweet, but other things haven't fared so well, I had a pretty red cyclamen in a pot which is dying, no idea why as it did well all over the winter...ah well.
