I have been keeping an eye open here as well (Ossie is an inveterate curtain-twitcher ) but I must say, everyone has, as far as I'm aware, very much abided by the rules - including social distancing outside. It's just inside the supermarkets that is the problem .....

The guy who wants a change of scenery will be in for a shock. The Algarve border is still shut to non-residents. And he's not even a resident here. I hope he tries it, I really do. Not only will he be turned back, they'll want to see all the paperwork, residência, mot etc.

He's Dutch, been here for years and drives a German plated car.

I'm not evil, not really Just gets up my nose that people who live here illegally think they can get away with it. Maybe they could, beforehand, but not now.

It seems that the whole idea of a communicable disease being carried to different areas of the country has been totally lost in the hype and noise.

Whilst social distancing is supposed to help reduce (note not stop), the spread of the virus to manageable levels, it seems to have completely missed people that the distancing is not Just to keep them safe, but to keep others safe from them.

Whilst I made a single journey to Paris, to pick up my son, as is still allowed, I took precautions to ensure I was as far from others as possible, that I went directly into isolation afterwards and will only go back into general circulation again tomorrow, two weeks after travelling. I did everything I could to make sure my vital journey caused no problems. My local town has no reported cases and, as of 5 days ago, our local hospital is geared up to support Angouleme hospitals for overflow.

There needs to be some level of re-education as to what social distancing and lock down is all about. It is all about not carrying to the virus to places it does not already exist.

In discussions with my parents today, it turns out that my mother was in the very first year to get BCG in FIFE and that my father got BCG in the RAF. Also they have both had the pneumonia vaccine in the last 5 years. So they are still high risk, but much lower than you might expect. Yet they feel that they should not be out because even if they do not suffer from it, they may, inadvertently, pass it on.

Honestly where did the intelligence of the UK population go to? We have decades worth of useless wittering on the TV and the key point appears to be being missed. Over and over again.

Rich people from London are legging it to their second homes in the Cotswolds, the West Country and Cornwall etc.
They want to get away from the virus hot spot of London. They don't care that they may be taking the virus with them.

What bothers me is the so-called end of the lockdown. Infection rates are still very low in Dorset; we must be at least a couple of weeks behind London. So when London is stabilized and they decide to lift the lockdown there, in Dorset our infection and death rates will probably still be rising.

I do not think that the lock-down should be ended across the whole country all at once. It must be done by geographical areas and crucially with no travel between them.

She’s recently moved down to Bournemouth, the police told her that they were overwhelmed with reports.
