Spanish lockdown lessening....

Postby Ally » 30 Apr 2020, 19:39

As you know lockdown here has been extremely strict but at 6pm this evening an announcement was made by Salvador Illa our health minister to begin to lessen things a bit.

From this Saturday (and I can't believe how excited I am about this) adults may go out for individual exercise alone or with one other member of their house, once a day remaining within a one-kilometer radius of their home.

This can be done between 6 - 10am or between 8 - 11 pm.

Children, with one adult can go out for an hour between 12 noon and 7pm.

Caregivers and seniors over 70 have time slots of 10am to noon and 7 - 8pm.

I'll be up Saturday with the sparrows.

Trainers on and out. Even though it's a small radius we've been given we live in a very hilly area so I'll get a good run in and a good sweat on.

Go steady the first time out Ally, don't pull or strain a muscle after your layoff.
I'm so glad that you are able to get out again. :)

Enjoy your run Ally :Hi: :Hi:

Our state of emergency ends on Saturday, but there will still be a lot of restrictions.

Just been reading about what we can/can't do.

Really pleased that our government and the opposition are in agreement with the new bits and bobs.

Only smaller places can open, as from Tuesday and it's up to the local council to decide. Which is good for us, as the Alentejo has had the lowest cases and only one death. Portugal as a whole, has just under 1,000 deaths, so far.

Jan, Portugal has done really well during this - hats off to reacting as fast as they did. I am still very curious / interested though about what (if any) effect TB vaccinations may have on this virus as there seems to be some correlation and Portugal is one of the southern European countries that had (still has?) compulsory vaccination.

Ally, easing the lock down like that makes sense and prevents everyone from going out and mad. And amazing just how far 1km around the house can take you; planning running routes will be fun.

It'll be interesting to see what next Thursday brings here

Don't know about one Ria.

But both Grumpy and I have previously had anti pneumonia jabs, due to lung problems.

I heard that about BCG Ria. Mick and I both had it at school, and Chris did, I think, but B and H haven't, as they'd stopped doing it by then :?

Another interesting premise is Vitamin D, for immunity. There is a school of thought that as a lack of Vit D affects immunity, we should all be taking a supplement - indeed Public Health England said during the week that they are considering recommending it, particularly for people of BAME heritage, as our climate does not allow darker skin to obtain enough from sunlight.

Over here, exercise/walks have been allowed all along with a 2km radius of home, there is a great graphic that shows quite how far that takes you. We expect an announcement today about our restrictions but it looks as if any relaxation will be minimal :?
