Good morning Sunday

Postby Ally » 03 May 2020, 05:24

Good morning.

Hot and sunny.

Off for my permitted hour of walking.

It's 52 weeks today that mum passed away. I think about mum a million times a day and this day won't be any different. I can't believe I've been a whole year without her.
She's in my every waking thought . And my dreams.
Please can I have a VV hug if there's any going.

Have a good day. xx

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Big hug Ally xx

Gorgeous morning here and we're in for rather a warm week - all of a sudden our temperature has ramped up by 15C

Off to Ourique soon, wearing my mask, to see if I can sort out new back plates and bags.

Then we'll - I - will go into Pingo and get load of dried and tinned food. Also masks. As it's mandatory from tomorrow to wear a mask on transport, in shops etc, hope to be able to get some there.

Did a load of summer clothes washing yesterday so they will need ironing

Lamb bbq later :D

Have as good a day as you can everyone xx

It has to be an emotional time for you Ally, have a big hug.
Sunny here but still with that sneaky cool breeze.
In a little while Eliza is coming down. Her mum needs to do a shop, her dad is working so she's coming here for an hour. With Eliza being pre-school age she can't go to school even though her parents are key workers, and she wasn't in a nursery when all this started, so she's coming here for an hour. MrsC is made up. :)
Chicken for dinner.
Have a lovely day all. :)

Oh Ally, of course loads of spare hugs for you (((((((big hug))))))); these firsts are always so so hard and even more so today esp as you can't be with your dad and sister. xxxx

Crommers, how lovely that Eliza is coming over, it'll do you all the world of good and bring a bit of normality back into life. I'm hoping for so many people that lockdown measures are soon eased enough that family can visit or one or two friends.

Jan, hope you get your plates etc and good luck with the masks. If need be do you have access to a sewing machine or know someone that does.. if yes then also have a look to see if you can get elastic because you can then make your own masks; there are loads of instructions online. And someone even shared a video of how to make one using an old t-shirt. Basically any material that you can wash at 60 degrees or more will do and then wear once and wash; do not wear again until washed.

There was an article in the FT yesterday saying that the government very likely is going to propose that white collar workers that can work from home will be instructed to do so for a few more months to give public transport a chance to cope and allow those that can't work from home the ability to get to their work place safely. Production will start going back and then one by one non food retail shops will reopen as well using the same queuing system that grocery stores have in place. They will be holding talks with various leaders of the restaurant / bar / catering industries to brainstorm and see how they can eventually reopen but they will be one of the last ones to do so. I'm curious to see just what they're going to come up with.

As for today - the weather is rather iffy; I may go to the allotment for a bit but that all depends on rain or no rain :D Otherwise some more non-specific pootling to be done around the house

Have a lovely day all x

And we're back.

No masks, there not in until tomorrow at the earliest

Poor Dr Paulo. He is completely out of his comfort zone, with ileostomies. As he said, I'm the only patient he has with one and he's not familiar with any of the problems. I had to show him the two piece I use then talk him through ordering from a different supplier. He very kindly said that I can ring him any morning, at the clinic, to re-order to ask questions. How kind :D

Sadly, the chemists were shut  So will have to go in sometime this week.

Ria, the only person I know who is handy with a sewing machine is Bertalina and I really wouldn't want to ask her. We have masks, but if I can get the approved one's in the supermarket, I'd prefer them.

Had breakfast, now going to pootle.

Good morning - dank and grey with drizzle in the air. Mrs O has done a washing load, but we'll have to dry it over the radiators today.

Thoughts for you, Ally ….

Jan, I'm not entirely sure where you would be able to source face-masks from down here. Some people obviously have them, but not that many seem to be wearing them.

Not a lot going on today. I have weeded out the bumf from the large file I had going for utility bills at our last house, so I now have about 87 copies of n-power's Customer Service Promises to dispose of. They'll go into recycling rather than be shredded. Why I kept them in the first place, I have no idea. Shredding can be a bit of a mixed blessing sometimes, you come across strange letters dating from 1987  and start wondering what they were all about, and have they been mis-filed from somewhere else. Not a task, therefore, for the paranoid …. :|

There was a feature on the BBC this morning about the historic preserved mill (with a waterwheel) at Sturminster Newton, just south of the town on the River Stour. They open it up in the summer as a visitor attraction and for demonstrations, usually once a month, but the parking is so horrendous the only time we tried to visit it, I couldn't find anywhere and had to reverse back out onto a fairly major (well, for these parts  ) road on a blind bend. Anyway, apparently with the current shortages of flour, the volunteers have now returned it to full-time production! 8-) There's quite a few small independent bakery shops in the area, and local pub/restaurants doing takeaways of course, so I guess they are supplying to them. Who needs Global Economy when you can trundle your flour bags on a horse and cart up the hill to the local Co-op!

Enjoy your baking, all! :D

I never usually post on the morning thread, but just wanted to say I am thinking of you Ally. My mum has also been gone for 25 years but I too think of her frequently, but it does get easier xxx

Afternoon everyone :)

Ally, I'm thinking of you, my Lovely, today and again on Tuesday, for the date itself ((((((((((((x))))))))))

I've been cooking again, batch cooking cottage pie (made a raspberry and buttercream sponge yesterday) :) Also been out for some milk, and a newspaper.

If anyone is interested, I know how to make a usable mask from a man's handkerchief, with no sewing? Shout up and Iwill post it. I used mine today, just washed it with hand soap when I got home.

Jan, I hope you get this all sorted ((((x))))

Stay safe everyone xxxx
