Just wondering....

Postby Workingman » 08 Jun 2020, 13:06

Do you have specific indoors and outdoors clothes?

I certainly have! I would not dream of going out in some of the stuff I wear round the house - not even to the corner shop. And if I have been out say, shopping, the first thing I do when I get in is put the shopping bags on the worktop then go and get changed.

I partly blame the RAF and uniforms, but in the present situation with Covid it has become more apparent to me that I do it. Am I alone in this or do others do something similar?

In contrast, I would dream of it - but unfortunately just like the RAF, Mrs O has radar. She instinctively knows if I am about to leave the house in "unsuitable clothing". Much tutting ensues until Ossie has made himself "presentable". :D

The prime rule is that it's shorts in the house (2 pairs owned, both now old and indecent) and trousers out of doors.

Oh, you two! :D   Is it a "Male of a certain age" thing, I wonder, as Mick certainly gets the once over from me before he leaves the house, especially after "Workbootgate" when he came to pick me up from Zumba wearing his scruffiest old tat and workboots

I don't tend to have different clothes for indoors. Becky does, she changes into trackies or similar as soon as she getsin.

No, it's practical!

For me, and I suspect most, it started with school.

Come home, hang up the uniform and get changed. Then as a printer I needed to change out of clothes smelling of inks and solvents to get them 'aired' and get into some thing fresh and clean. With the RAF it was out of uniform and into 'civvies', so it is something I have always done. It is a habit I have not been able to break.

Yes definitely, when I'm at work, I change as soon as I get home into 'comfy clothes', IE leggings and a top usually. I have been wearing the latter most of lockdown, I can't think I'll still fit into my black work trousers!!

Usually if I'm going shopping, I'll dress up a little, but as it's more likely I'm going out to walk, I'll keep the leggings on and add walking shoes or trainers and keep the clothes on that I dressed in that morning.

Hands up, I'm a scruff. If it wasn't for MrsC I'd go out looking like a tramp. She inspects me to make sure I'm reasonably presentable before I'm allowed out.

In 'normal' times I'd be straight out of my work clothes and into something comfy the moment I got home.... now however - oh dear! My sense of fashion has never really been current - I wear what I find comfy. But some of my ensembles during lock down have been rather eye watering - and yes I did leave the house in them  . Admittedly only to go to the allotment at a time I knew I'd not bump into anyone but still.

But dare I say - loving every minute of it and really don't care :D.... As long as I've slapped on a bit of mascara and lippy before leaving the house who cares what I'm wearing.

Now, about this lippy and mascara at the allotment; when did that become "thing"? ;) :? :P
