Rucksacks ready and it's off to our beloved Nerja for 3 days we go.

We'd booked this for our 30th wedding anniversary back in April so it's lovely to be able to go now.

Lots of eating , ice cream guzzling and walking. When we were last there at Christmas on the day we were coming home we stumbled upon a trail that led from the beach so the trainers are packed.

We're off on our second jolly of the week Heading west this rime, to Odemira. Aldi and Lidl call Things like curry sauce, tins of baked beans, herring (for Grumpy) and other lovely food

Should be back by lunchtime, as we're heading off early ish, then it'll be finding room in the fridges for everything

And deciding what delights we can tempt ourselves with for dinner

It's belting down here - much-needed but there has been flash flooding in Cheltenham because the ground is too hard for it to soak in Seems you can't win

Off to Sainsbury's a bit later, Becky is off work today, so she'll come with me and push a trolley round for D's list. That does take the pressure off a lot, it's stressful getting the main shop for two households in one go

Ally, have just the best time - enjoy!
Jan, don't forget the presunto - enjoy the drive; it really is a lovely one (well I thought so).
Kaz, it absolutely bucketed it down here over night - just after 11pm the heavens opened and we had torrential rain; and it didn't slow down until way past midnight. Then just became heavy normal rain and calmed down as the night went on. It's meant to be rain on and off most of the morning / midday today as well. The pond is now full again which is lovely and the water butts will be too.

I got up at 6 as per usual to let the chickens out and then went back to bed for what was meant to be an hour... obviously hit the wrong button but woke up just after 8 again; oops. So now a quick check on work emails and then get myself ready for the day

Good morning all, it’s pouring down here and it’s forecast to be heavy until late afternoon.

Thanks to the weather it’s day for doing indoor cleaning jobs today and dealing with a depressed Bill because he can’t get out for a walk. John’s gone into the office, he’s done a full week out of the house this week (he’s currently working four days so tomorrow is his day off, although he’s actually worked the last two Saturdays).

Tom’s having a lie in and Joe’s at work. I’ve got a jigsaw being delivered today by Royal Mail according to their tracker, I started a monthly subscription a few months ago, it’s £11.99 a month for a 1000 piece jigsaw from a company in Devon who make their own.

Raining here too Jo and rained overnight as well. Saundra, Eliza is here. MrsC will be making biscuits with her. She has just thrown a ball at me.
In other news sister in law has put her notice in at work. She has worked at the library for forty years. They started talking about the new training they were going to do and how to re-open the library and I think that helped to make her mind up. She's got the figures through for her pension and lump sum and she's happy with it.
Library work has changed an awful lot. They are being used for all sorts now.

Woke up to bright sunshine

No thunderstorms here, but it did rain steadily from late afternoon and carried on through the night. The forecast is for more rain around 1ish today then sunshine later this afternoon. It does feel a lot fresher and it's very warm.

We had a nice long lie in and have only just had brekkie Surprise, surprise, no plans for the day, I'm sure I could find lots of jobs that need doing but.............

Adventures in Lockdown - Part 87: The Great Escape

No painter today, and we have a 12 day hiatus before the Final Push - just the living room to do. So plenty of time for the furniture rearranging ritual, and an opportunity for a lie-in this morning, right? Wrong!

The phone goes at 8:45 :
"Surgery here. You've sent in repeat prescription requests using the E-Consult system last night."
"Yes that right" says Ossie
"Why?"
"Er - well I want repeat prescriptions ordered for collection from the pharmacy"
"Yes, but why did you use the E-Consult system?"
"Because that's what you told me to do!"
"Most people just telephone"
"Well, when lockdown started, you told me to use E-Consult, and that's what I've done every month!"
"Oh, right."

You know, you really give up with some people ......

So, rudely awakened, off to Sturminster Newton in the heart of the Vale to visit the electrical appliance store and order our replacement washing machine! Mrs O's first trip outside the town boundary since March! The roads were moderately busy, and moderately flooded, which is normal state of affairs in Dorset whenever we get a bit of rain. It was quiet in Stur, few people out in the small shopping street. Not many mask wearers about and they tended to be employees of big companies like British Gas maintenance workers. The electrical store was very efficient, hand sanitiser at the entrance and notices saying only two customers in the shop at any time (well, they were allowing three) and the washing machine we wanted was there on display. Negotiations concluded, goods paid for, and delivery next Monday.

Ossie hit the butchers for a pork pie, half a quiche for Mrs O and a hunk of Blue Vinny (the real McCoy on sale in Stur, it's produced very locally) while Mrs O marched across to Boots for some moisturiser. I then dived into the dark and gloomy Bulgarian Shop and emerged with a dark and gloomy Bulgarian sausage . I noticed the corner café was open but I think it was only doing takeaways; they had tables outside. So back home by 11:30 and TBH I was exhausted just after doing that!
