what would you do.....

for my birthday last year (and as a combined Christmas gift) a friend gave me some espresso cups; as I'd asked that as a perfect gift. Unfortunately though the cups are not my taste or style AT ALL!. They're quite chunky ones with a super hero motif and I just really don't like them.

These are similar... https://www.johnlewis.com/bialetti-art- ... lsrc=aw.ds to give you an idea of colour / style (just really really really not me)

And as this rearranging of kitchen cupboards is taking shape, I just know I don't want to keep these cups - but what do I do? Nadine (my friend) isn't a coffee drinker, but I'd worry that if I gave them away / sold them that she'd one day ask about them and then I'd be scuppered. So my thinking was to put a post on FB saying how gutted I am as I dropped one of my boxes in the process of bringing it back in; and things got broken (not being too detailed but can use that as future excuse if ever the need arises). But then that's a rather blatant lie (or would it be a white lie born of necessity?)

What would you do? (oh and anyone want superhero espresso cups? - happy to post them off to you!) :D

Tell the fib about dropping the box, it saves hurting her feelings in future, then take them to a charity shop.

If they look remotely like the pictures I actually would drop the box ..... and again from a height if necessary.

Espresso cups are white and look like tiny baby builder's mugs or maybe with a slightly wider brim than the base.

Drop them and let the 'virtual' tears flow - then move on. ;)

I think any present you receive which you don't like is "fair game" to be recycled, given away, used as a present elsewhere, donated to a charity shop, whatever.

I wouldn't pretend to (or even actually ;) ) drop them. It's yours, you can do what you like with them. If you feel uncomfortable that she might ask about them, just stick them in the back of one of your new cupboards for another year or two before getting rid of them. I'm always a bit leery that telling a white lie will somehow rebound and catch me out!
