Just booked a table at a new restaurant for next Saturday. We've heard some very good reports from friends.

I rang, spoke in Portuguese and he answered me in English - he's French   Said his Portuguese is not good and can we do it in English please. His wife is Portuguese though ;) . They will even, if you ask beforehand, cooking whatever you want  8-)

Looking forward to it :D

My son told me about this only last week. His mate had a good Cheltenham festival. Johnny knows nothing about horses, but he was told the the Irish trainer Willie Mullins was very good. So one day he put an accumulator bet on (I think it was four horses). They all won - he got £6,000!

Fire season is upon us

There have been quite a few big ish fires in the country, but by heck, they are throwing everything at them :Hi: There is a huge fire about 45 minutes drive from us, down the IC1 and there are 11 - yes, eleven - aircraft on it, as well as over 300 firefighters.

Because we lost so many lives three years ago, because of stupidity and ignorance, as well as too many people not knowing what to do, there is now a national body who oversee everything and they're really sorting it out.

All we need to do now is lock up the morons who light them.

Some are accidental, some are done by ignorance and poverty (too poor to pay for some-one to clean the land) and some are done on purpose. Usually by arsonists or by the people who own the planes, to fight the fires. They used to get paid a shedload per fire. All sorts of skullduggery and backhanders :cute: :cute:

Crikey Jan. Plenty of scope for dirty doings there.
Completely off topic - whatever happened to Dream Topping?

used to love that

Back on topic, we're watching the planes, helicopters and bombeiros on the t - I have nothing but admiration for them. They have to buy their own uniforms  and English fire stations very kindly donate their old one's too.
