Morning all :D

A glorious sunny day here 8-)

A lovely break is just what you and Mrs.C deserve Crommers.

E's expecting a telephone appointment with the hip hospital at 2.30 today. He didn't quite catch the full name of the consultant who will be ringing, but it isn't the one he saw originally so not sure if he's a member of Mr Gikas's team. Hoping he's calling to give us some idea of when E will have his op.

Last Thursday I rang our local hospital to chase up my gynae appointment, the referral was done in January and the last appointment cancelled was back in April. I hadn't heard from them since, but now things are supposed to be getting back to normal thought it was worth checking. Not good news, the consultant I was due to see is still not working and the hospital aren't making any appointments until when/if he comes back. They suggested speaking to my GP to see if he can move it to another hospital. I decided to leave doing that until after E's call this afternoon, one thing at a time.

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx

Good afternoon all, it keeps looking like it’s about to rain here.

Hopefully any rain will hold off until the washing dries. I’ve got some housework to do and John’s got me researching security cameras. He’s wanting to ramp up our home security and we bought a Ring doorbell on Saturday and he’s interested in a security camera from the same range to overlook the drive and back of the house.

We had a nightmare fitting the doorbell, it wouldn’t connect to the wifi and we spent from 3pm until Midnight on Saturday trying all kinds of different things and then another two hours on Sunday morning before it suddenly decided to connect and promptly installed an update and it’s been fine since. John’s in work and sent me a video of me and Bill walking back home this morning

Anyway, once that was all sorted and we started to relax a replacement Echo Dot arrived for the one we bought Joe for his birthday and which stopped working and was completely dead after two months. I spoke to Amazon late on Friday night and after some troubleshooting they concluded that it was indeed dead and would send another. They only sent the actual Dot though and that didn’t work either, we connected it to another cable and it turns out that the fault is actually with that and not the unit. I got onto the livechat and spent an hour trying to sort that out. After much waiting for an answer they decided that they couldn’t send just a power cable and suggested I buy one and then get in touch again for a refund but I didn’t want to waste yet more time doing that and having to explain again and then wait for a supervisor to be consulted so I suggested that they just credit my account with the amount and I’d buy one, off he went and checked and said they couldn’t do that. How about if I placed the order there and then and he could refund me immediately. More waiting. Yes, that was possible.

Crommers, enjoy every minute of your holiday!

Have a good day all :)

Good afternoon - it's not often the weather here approaches Ally and Jan's "scorchio" but we're not far off today. Some wispy clouds but otherwise sunny and hot.

Taking our lives into our hands, we decided on an early morning visit to the Café Corsa, which is the nearest café we can get to walking, albeit uphill! We had more or less decided that we wouldn't eat out again until the restrictions are lifted / a vaccine arrives / Halley's Comet returns, but at the end of the day, you only live once, so you might as well do it dangerously.

The Cafe Corsa is a biker's caf, well, sort of. It's part of an upmarket motorcycle dealership (get yer second hand Harley 'ere for about 7000 squid emporium). As such, the café attracts an interesting selection of families, ladies wot lunch, and hairy bikers' clubs. It's got a walled garden, and a deep pond which you have to be careful not to drive into if you arrive by car.

We choose a table outside (so had everyone else) and ordered a salmon and cucumber sandwich for Mrs O, which came with lashings of salad, and a large cooked breakfast (bacon, sausage, egg, beans, black puddin', tomato, toast - whoops, there goes the diet again  ) for Ossie, with two large coffees. One way system into the building to order, and the food and cutlery was brought out to us. Very well organised, they accepted cash (although their preference is card) and we had to fill in a Track and Trace form (can I ask what's your experience on this - anecdotally many pubs / cafes are a bit blasé about this regulation? We also had the price reduced as they are passing on the VAT saving, which was nice. Altogether a pleasant experience, enlivened by the arrival of a contingent of Triumph bikers, one of whom attempted to drive his motor into the building :o ), but if it were raining / wasp season / leaf fall, I'm not so sure it would be worthwhile going up there. As it is, we wouldn't go on a regular basis, but perhaps just occasionally if the weather holds.

Well done on booking your break, Crommers, and for battling through all the bureaucracy, Jo!
Enjoy the day, all.

Afternoon all, a nice day here, sun and cloud. I left towels on the line overnight, got them in this morning and another wash load out. I had a good walk this morning, and then went to the gym. I phoned the doc for a repeat prescription which will apparently be emailed to the chemist, which is great as I won’t have to collect it. No other plan for the day.

Crommers, I’m delighted you are both getting away, you really deserve the break.

Crommers, that's great news - you and Mrs C deserve a break :)

Ossie, that Cafe looks very nice indeed :D Re the tracing thing, we filled in a form at Highfields garden centre cafe, but Corretto's haven't been asking us to :? :?:

Put a note through the letterbox of the barber I use on Thursday before he opened asking if he was going to have an appointment system.
When I went after he had opened he said he was not having one as it would meant he would have to stop while he answered the phone.

Went for a pedicure on Sunday. The lady who owns the salon has our details as we have been goung for 20 years. The price has gone up £5.00 but we still think it is worth it.

Have got an appointment with the dentist on Thursday morning. We go every three months. Have our details as again we have been going several years.
It is now only private patients but worth the money.
Have not been to a cafe or pub.
