Next years project

Postby JanB » 23 Jul 2020, 17:11

Sadly, not the ruin, I keep hoping though

I would like some sort of awning over part of the surround by the pool. We get a lot of strong wind here - and we're on top of a hill too - so need something strong and not liable to blow over into next door.

Grumpy will make a few supports and I'm going to ask Denny - who did our glass curtains, but also does all sorts of awnings, blinds etc - to come up and give us a quote. It's for a corner, so might be a little more tricky. But I'd like to be able to sit near the pool, rather than further away, so we'll see.

This will more than likely be for next summer, as I have a list   of stuff that needs doing beforehand 8-)

Jan. it's not an awning you want, it's a wind break!

And with the winds you get that will be inch thick steel plate sunk into six foot pre-stressed concrete foundations. :D :D :D

Get Banksy round to give it a bit of street cred. ;)

what wood panels?

Re the awning, have you thought about a sail cloth? Provided the hooks etc are strong enough and anchored in properly then it's not going to go anywhere, and they're not all that expensive either. They usually come rectangle, square or triangle in all sorts of sizes and colours ;-)

Been looking at them Ria, but think Denny might be able to help.

Should be sorted before you get here next year ;)

Ria, using you sails with a good southwesterly Jan could be with you before you are with her. ;)
