Good Morning Thursday

Postby JanB » 06 Aug 2020, 06:46

Morning everyone

Lovely, warm morning, so another rather warm day later 8-) Normal temperatures from next Monday :Hi: Not complaining, but it has been rather hot for rather a long time, longer than normal.

Watering done and now deciding what to do for the rest of the day. Probably not a lot  Grumpy will be playing with wood, as he's making another bench, for the back terrace.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning Jan, morning everyone

a very odd start to the day - cloudy and a teeny tiny bit of drizzle, and then it's going to warm up later today and tomorrow apparently a scorcher? The weather pattern really is doing odd things.

Heading over to Nadine at 11 for a quick visit and then back home for a chilled afternoon doing more pootling. The joys of a laptop - work and I can be VERY mobile :D

have a lovely day all x

Morning all, it’s dull here now after a sunny start. It’s horribly muggy though.

Bill had his walk very early on, we were home to see John leave for work. I then put his lead back on him and walked to the post office to put a letter in the post box for my Mom.

I’ve got an empty house today as Tom’s at Shannon’s. We saw Joe off to work this morning and won’t see him again until Sunday. He’s got tomorrow as a day’s holiday and he and Amanda are heading down to Falmouth. She needs to get the keys this weekend to the cottage that she and a couple of her friends are renting for their university accommodation for the coming year so they’re going to take some of her stuff down with them so that there’s less to take in September.

I’m waiting for a DPD delivery. I’ve bought myself a sewing machine. I’ve seen people creating lovely sewn items during lockdown so thought I’d have a go, although I’ve not used one since school sewing lessons in 1983 (and I never did finish that skirt!). If nothing else we can have plenty of masks

Have a good day all :)

Jo, that did make me laugh about the sewing machine. I have one, but no clue how to use it   I was determined to try and learn so I could make a mask or two myself, but never got that far. One of the issues for me (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it), is that I don't have a spare room to set it up so I'd have to set up and dismantle every time or it needs to stay on the dining room table and I really am trying very hard (not successfully admittedly) to declutter now that I have the nice new kitchen and I want things to be just right.

So, sewing machine and some material handed over to Nadine's cousin, who a) knows how to sew; b) has the space; and c) has the time :D Now to wait for the masks :D

Morning all, it’s dull here and only beginning to warm up, which is not what was forecast :x We’re waiting for our supermarket delivery, then I am off to the gym at 12.30. Nothing really planned for the afternoon, I want to go to the post office and I need to get some bananas as we forgot to put them on our order.

I had a sewing machine years ago and although I did make stuff (memorably, matching shorts and a shirt for Edward :? ), a few things for myself and also for Miss Osc when she was small, I was never any good and lacked patience. I have no talent for any craft, and envy those who have.

Morning all :D

Not quite as sunny, but lovely and warm.

Eldest daughter, husband and our grandson didn't get here until after 5 and stayed for about 3 hours. Probably just as well they didn't arrive earlier, it was so windy we had to take the umbrellas down and our garden is south facing so you definitely need cover when the sun's out. It was lovely to see them all, it's been a year since we last saw them. E and our daughter certainly made up for it, they managed to get through 2 bottles of red wine between them  They're delighted with their apartment, lovely views and plenty of room. Not sure what they're doing today, but expecting them here sometime around 4ish.

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx

Afternoon all :)

It's a funny day weather wise here too Ria! Warm and muggy, showers in between the sunshine. D isn't well again - she's on antibiotics for a stomach infection, I picked them up last night for her and we dropped them round so she could start them straight away. I went to Sainsbury's on my own, got her shopping as well as ours, and Mick picked me up. Not long got back from dropping hers off. Some VV vibes would be much appreciated, as she's not well at all :?

We've been a bit worried since the explosion in Beirut, as Sara (our nephew Chris's girlfriend) lives there, but we've heard she's ok. The windows of her aunt's house blew in though! She has a flight to Canada in Friday to stay with her parents, who although they're Lebanese live in Canada - she and Chris are seriously considerably settling there eventually. They met through Chris's work - he's a swimming instructor in Qatar

Jo, Osc, I took sewing at school, but was absolutely hopeless, the family dressmaking gene totally bypassed Mum and both her daughters :? Aunty Rose and Nan both did it professionally :? :cute:

Jen, enjoy the family time :)

Love to all xx

Thanks Saundra. No, she's on the antibiotics because she has a stomach infection - she went to the doctors yesterday teatime, after a phone consultation and the GP diagnosed it. She's on pro-biotics too xxx
