Good morning Wednesday

Postby Ally » 19 Aug 2020, 05:25

Good morning.

Off for my walk shortly. :D

Today we're meeting up with Anne, aunt Lena and uncle John. Anne and her sister Lynn were our absolute best friends during our childhood. Their parents were our parents best friends too. They're not our real aunt and uncle but felt like it and we've always called them so just like the girls did with our parents. :D

We're all having lunch at The Falls of Clyde apart from Lynn who is at work today. She's a nurse at Stirling hospital.

Looking forward to seeing them and also to visit beautiful Lanark.

Have a great day.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Another dull, grey but warm start to the day. Warms up nicely later with lovely sunshine 8-)

Watering done and we'll be doing Ourique after breakfast. I have a bill to pay at the multibank, Chinese shop for a couple of bits and bobs and then the dreaded Pingo  Going early as it gets rammed later in the day - all the Portuguese from France, Switzerland etc visiting family.

Back to do I don't know what. I running out of things to do. Yes, I know the kitchen cupboards need cleaning, but it will have to wait until the cooler weather. Grumpy will be staining the bench.

I'm going to cook a proper dinner tonight.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all

Ally that sounds like a lovely day - special time with special people
Jan, hope you get everything sorted and then as Kaz says put feel up and relax by the pool
Kaz, enjoy the Zumba

raining here as well - dare I say, I'm now getting a bit bored of it. Yes we need it, but it would be nice to have just one or two lovely hot sunny days again. I've got quite a bit of tidying to do at the allotment, oh and harvesting of beans, beans, beans and more beans :D and it is just so much more enjoyable when not getting soaked ;)

Need to do a bit of grocery shopping in a bit - well more a case of cat food and veg for the chickens :D. But also quite fancy a stuffed marrow for dinner so will get some mince for myself . Oh and waiting patiently for the rug to dry - it came out nice and clean but the chap was a bit rough with it; the vacuum thing they use is metal with no rubber to soften anything and they have to use quite a bit of pressure to get the steam in / water up. I need to give it another vacuum once it's dried to see if it makes a difference but it looks like some of the fibres have split - not sure how else to describe it; but it's got a fluffy look to it which it shouldn't have. Definitely not a treatment to be done every year! But at least it didn't fall apart or have colours run which was good.

Have a lovely day all x

Morning all, it’s pouring down here.

I walked Bill and also managed to feed next door’s rabbit before the rain started. I’ve got the Tesco delivery coming later this morning and there’s also a parcel due to be delivered by Royal Mail today according to their tracking but we’ll see, mail deliveries have been very hit and miss recently and we go days without deliveries and then get a bulk. There’s actually a thread on the local Next Door page about it. One person asked their postman why they were going days without mail and that things were delayed and he told her that they’ve (understandably) got extra mail going through the system but overtime isn’t being paid so anything that doesn’t get delivered within their contracted hours gets taken back to the depot.

We watched an excellent film on Prime last night, The King Of Staten Island.

Have a good day all :)

Morning all :D

Bright sunshine, but rain's forecast from lunch time onwards.

Glad I got my hair done yesterday, Jo's still observing all the protocols thank goodness.

Up early again, E's being picked up at 11 for his trIp to the RNOH. It's a bit like sending someone off to school  I've done him a packed lunch, not sure when/where he'll be able to eat it though. Not on the drive up, he's been told to keep his mask on. Hopefully if he gets up there in plenty of time and has to wait outside for a while he can have it then. Doubt he'll be home again much before 7pm.

Nothing planned for me, expect I'll spend most of the day fidgeting about. Goodness know's how I'll be when he goes in for the op, a proper couple of nutcases we are

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx

Safe travels to E Jen.
grey day again here, it has rained overnight. Not August weather at all.
I have somehow managed to hurt my back and am walking around bent over. I will get some heat pads from the chemist.
Have a good day all.

Morning all, it’s pretty miserable here, when it is not actually raining it is spitting. We had planned a visit to a big shopping centre today, and were also going to book ourselves a posh lunch in town next week - but we have some restrictions imposed last night so had to forget that :( We have booked the restaurant next door for Friday evening so that’s something I suppose. I’ve been to the post office to take out money, bought some milk, and also got a face shield for Edward who really struggles with the mask. So now that our day out is cancelled, I’ll read and/or do some knitting.

Jan, why do you always have to be “doing”, can you never just “be”? As a natural sloth, I never feel the urge to always be busy

I do have mornings/afternoons when I'm not doing anything bar reading Osc, especially at this time of year.

Well, best laid plans and all that

We had to go to Castro Verde, because dippy grey haired ole biddy (me  ) forgot the pin number for the bank card and the blasted machine kept it  :cute:  As it's not our bank, the very nice young man said he couldn't get it back, as it was in the the machine outside and anyway, it would now be cancelled

So off we go and the very nice young lady in our bank, kept a straight face - ish  - when I told her and a new one will be sent to our address here, rather than having to go back to Castro. I've got a new pin number too

But I got some money out anyway, so we were able to go shopping. Just means I have to wait until the card comes through before I can pay the bill. Just hope it's before 3 September, as that's the cut off date.

Rather warm now, so I'll head for the pool once I've done the prep for dinner.

Then I'll just sit and read, promise 8-)
