We had a new sofa and chair a couple of weeks ago for the downstairs living room so I rang the local hospice charity about donating the old ones to their furniture store. The woman I spoke to was really pleased, said they’re getting plenty of clothing and bric a brac but not much in the way of furniture and they have stand alone shops for that. She arranged for it to be collected on Thursday.
I waiting around until they came at 1pm and they wouldn’t take it because it’s very lightly faded on one arm where the sun had hit it in the window. As soon as we’d noticed it starting to happen I put a throw over the arm so that it didn’t get any worse. Apart from that it’s solid and clean. They advertise that a suite can raise £350 so surely if they priced it at £50 it’s money going towards their cause, but no, it wasn’t showroom quality so they didn’t want it (which is probably why they haven’t got much in the way of furniture being donated if they drivers are being so picky).
I put it on the local free page on Facebook and a man said he wanted it and could he collect it Saturday morning. I gave him the address and he messaged me at 9am to say that he was waiting for someone to bring him a van. I replied suggesting the best place to park when he gets here. It’s gone 1.30 now and that was the last I heard from him.
We planned to go to a garden centre today but obviously we had to wait in for him to not turn up this morning and because Amazon sent the parcel that they guaranteed to deliver yesterday to the wrong part of the country and didn’t notify me until late afternoon, that’s now being delivered this afternoon between 2.15 and 5.15, so that’s the whole day written off waiting
