4.50pm and....

Postby meriad » 05 Nov 2020, 16:53

cats inside, cat flaps closed and windows shut. TV is on in the lounge, radios are on in the kitchen/dining area; lights are on and last thing to be done - if it's needed - is to close the curtains in the lounge.

It's as firework ready as I can make my house so the cats aren't too traumatised..... suspect the above procedure will be repeated tomorrow and Saturday night as well; sigh

chickens have put themselves to bed and their door closes automatically at 5.15pm so hopefully they'll be fine out there as well

Sometimes these things have to be done. Must say that this year has been a lot quieter than usual.

Max, the Alsatian, and Trudi, the mad cat, loved the fireworks and would sit at the patio doors watching them all evening. Tabitha, the black cat, used to go on a bed in the cupboard under the stairs and we put the radio on a shelf in the hallway for her - R3 or Classic FM seemed to work.

Very few fireworks round here tonight, far less than usual.

There's a big annual bonfire and display up at the rugby club but that was cancelled this year, of course, so I thought we'd have been seeing more "back garden" fireworks - but it seems it's not been the case. Thinking about it, I don't think I've seen fireworks on sale much this year either.

Give me thunderstorms over fireworks any day. Love storms.

Well, things were a lot quieter than expected which is nice; suspect there will be more fireworks tonight though - a) it's Friday; and b) better weather apparently and same for Saturday.

Frank - agree, I do love a storm (within reason obviously)

We had fireworks from 5pm until just after 10 last night. Bill was a wreck.
We’ve tried just about everything over the last few years...sprays, tablets, Rescue Remedy, Classic FM, sound therapy, making him a den...but nothing has worked and I think last night was the worst he’s ever been.

We had fire engines down the road, a stray firework set fire to a shed. When will these bloody awful things be banned? Four fire engines, what a waste of money and had the household been out, it could have spread to the house, as they wouldnt have been able to get round the back
