Interesting warning from our local Anglican Church regarding ordering Christmas items from Traidcraft (which, if you're not familiar with it, is a Christian charity raising money for deprived third world countries by selling simple items made by them):

Should you prefer to order direct remember the goods may arrive with you within 24 hours of being 'picked' in
Gateshead, where covid levels are very high, so please take care - be particularly careful. (I will delay deliveries [ which you might have ordered direct with the local Church representative ] a
couple of days so you only need be careful with the bag I have handled).

With everyone doing mail order and Amazon these days, just what are the risks, I wonder? I'm sure I saw somewhere recently that letters and things through the post present only a very small risk of contracting Covid ....

With the number of deliveries of all sorts of things having gone through the roof since the pandemic started if there was any real increased risk of catching the infection then cases would have risen and deliveries would be a known vector. Had that been the case then deliveries would be being monitored, controlled, reduced or stopped.

It hasn't happened. Keep calm and carry one.

It looks as though the charity is, quite rightly, covering its rear end.
