Good morning Friday

Postby Ally » 04 Dec 2020, 06:24

Good morning.

Not as toasty warm as it's been of late with a high of 18 degrees, broken sunshine and showers forecast around 8pm.

I'm off for a walk shortly then back to happily pootle.

My two private classes at 4.30 then meeting Don to get a bit of shopping in.

I prepped a Balti curry last night and will make chapatis, raita and basmati rice. Yum. :D

Have a great day.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Ooh dinner sounds yum - send some over please Ally. Enjoy the day pootling and fingers crossed you do get some of that promised rain tonight

I'm going to pop out around 10ish to get my Christmas tree. Wickes have really nice ones that are very reasonably priced but sadly they're too big for my lounge; so heading to the Christmas tree farm instead; they have a huge choice. Possible college pick up for Thomas this afternoon and then online all afternoon and possibly quite a bit of the evening as we're moving our entire IT system from London to the US; it'll either be very smooth sailing or a big headache.

In between all that it'll be the regular pootling and tidying and working. Oh and coming up with a plan to get a cover over the area where I have my chickens. Their run has a solid roof but it's not big enough for six chickens to be confined for anything up to 4 months. Because of the avian flu outbreak DEFRA have made it compulsory that as of 14th December all poultry / pet birds have to be kept either indoors or if outdoors in a secure and covered run where there is no chance of them coming into contact with wild birds. Fun times ahead - not!

Have a lovely day all x

Good morning all.
An absolutely foul morning here. We've had snow which then went to sleet and eventually to rain. Just by looking you can tell it's going to be one of those days when it never gets properly light.
I hope the IT move goes smoothly Ria!
We had a bit of upset last night. Father in law fell in his care home and cut his head. The ambulance came out for him but because he has dementia someone had to go to A and E and sit with him (they call it Emergency now at Pinderfields) and that someone was MrsC, her sister and boyfriend having had a drink last night.
So I drove her through. Those nurses have some job according to MrsC. Whilst she was there ( a couple of hours, better than we expected) some snotty woman kept walking off, breaking the covid rules, refusing to do as she was politely asked, and talking snottily to the nurses "How much longer am I expected to wait?" etc. Really talking to them like they were servants.
Then they had two overdose cases come in. One a man in his fifties, one a twenty one year old girl who had tried to kill herself. So at least one attempted suicide.
Anyway, FiL was kept in for observation and is now back tucked up in bed back at the care home.
I don't mind if today is really boring!
Sainsbury's run this afternoon, wine tonight.
Have a good day all.

Morning all :)

Poured with rain overnight, but it's now lovely and sunny, hope it lasts.

Good luck with the IT move Ria.
Oh dear Crommers, what a night you've had. Glad to hear FIL is back safely in his care home. Mrs.C must be exhausted.

Finished doing all my cards yesterday so will pop them round to the postbox later. It's washing day, got the first load whizzing round in the machine right now. Need to remake the bed later, one of those dreaded jobs

Hope you all have a good day xx

18 degrees   I was up early this morning for a hospital appointment at 9.15am. At that stage it was -1. It struggled up to +2 while I was in the car and is +4 now, but it is BALTIC with an icy north wind - sunny earlier but raining now. I went for a walk with friends but we cut it short as it was so cold. We have booked click and collect from the pub next door and Michael and Kellie will be here for a couple of hours 6-8ish as SIL will be doing football training and Miss Osc is going out.

Afternoon everyone :)

Good luck with the IT switch over Ria! Fingers are it all goes smoothly xxx

Crommers, that sounds like an upsetting time for you all! (((((Hugs))))) xxx

Well I risked a trip into town today, for the first time since things opened up. It wasn't too busy, so it went smoothly. Picked up a few stocking fillers, and some lavender oil for D, then popped that in on my walk home. Not long got in, Mick's gone to the gym, and I have a few bits to iron. It's almost cold enough to snow here - hope it doesn't :?

Stay warm everyone :) xxx

Good afternoon all, it’s bitterly cold here and pouring with rain.

We actually left the house for something more than a dog walk today  We drove over to Stafford so that I could get a Hobbycraft gift card for Amanda and then headed towards Wolverhampton to a Dobbies garden centre for a gift card for Roger. I didn’t bother in the end though because they couldn’t issue one of those little activation receipts saying how much was loaded onto it, I could’ve had one had I bought one of their own giftcards but the one I wanted could be used at various garden centres. Usually you get a slip don’t you with the card number and the amount but there was nothing so I had a refund, I don’t like giving without in case there’s a problem and there’s no proof it’s been activated.
Anyway, from there we headed to the M&S food store to pick up an order of L’Occitane hand creams that I’d bought for my sister, and I got Rog and M&S gift card instead. Next up was the bath bomb shop in Cannock. The lady makes them in the shop and she’s been taking orders on Facebook so I just had to pick up the ones I’d ordered for Shannon and Amanda. Over to the Pound Bakery then for some pies to take home for lunch.

Joe’s on day 10 of his self isolation, he’s been able to work from home all week but he’d booked today off anyway and when we got back he asked for help booking a holiday so after lunch we sat and went through various sites and he and Amanda are going to Paris in July. Fingers crossed anyway! They had two holidays cancelled this year.

Tom came home last night and said that he’s teaching Year 9 French on Monday to cover for a teacher who’s home because their child is isolating. Unfortunately he dropped French and took German at GCSE

I’ve got a parcel out for delivery with Royal Mail but I’ve given up thinking it’ll come today seeing as it’s coming up for 5pm.

Crommers, I hope today’s been better and that your father in law is on the mend x

Enjoy the rest of the day all :)

Pouring with rain all flippin day here!!! Relentless, heavier, a bit heavier then the first heavy, et al.....

I had to go out for some bits, and I would put money on the fact I got the kids advent calendars but I can't find them anywhere, and of COURSE there are none to be bought anywhere!!! Trawled everywhere, none.

I got a bit drowned while out and cold, so I'll be off for a soak in a hot bath soon to warm through....oh and we have all had emails from work, we have to complete an online training course before Dec 14th to do with the NHS so that'll be to sort! M is a bit of a big girls' blouse, he panics that we won't all get it done, and there are 10 whole days left to do it in! Tom had put the C tree up while I was out - soooo glad!! :D

My living room radiator was quite cool last night, so I've got my plumber to come take a look tomorrow. Might need a new rad, it's warmer at the top than the bottom (the bottom was cold last night) but needs must.

I was reading until 3.15 this morning, just not tired. I knew I could lie late if needed, but then as Tom doesn't work Fridays and had come back to bed, his phone went at 8.30 (!!) anyway....GRRRR.
