The car!

I have just been out to the car and there is a huge scrape down the rear door and wheel arch at bumper height. I went to the supermarket last night at about 9 pm and some moron must have misjudged the entry, or exit, to the next bay...... No note or anything. and I didn't notice in the dark.

It's not worth an insurance claim so it will be a touch up job to stop it rusting. Not happy, but what else can I do?

Technically a supermarket car park is a public place; the culprit has committed an offence in not reporting it. Not that that's of any consolation to you, unfortunately, unless you want to go to all the trouble of asking the store if they've got CCTV images .....

As you say, it's not worth the hassle (and cost) of an insurance claim, so a touch up job seems the best option.

I had that with my previous car - went to the garden centre and when I got out there was a huge dent in the front passenger door. I wasn't even able to say how long it had been there because I don't often approach the car from that side so it could have happened at home where I park on the road as people use that area as a turning circle (I now park further back) or if it was that day at the garden centre. And same as you - no note or anything. I did contact the insurance and got so annoyed because they then, despite my not claiming, considered it a loss as the dent would decrease the value of the car. I was livid, esp as the husband of a friend of mine removed the door panel from the inside and was able to push back most of the dent so it wasn't really noticeable anymore; AND I had not intention of selling the car

My little cousin Katie, the one who got married earlier this year, was ploughed into on Saturday morning, and the other driver fled the scene Luckily she got away with bruising and a burn from the airbag, but the car is a write off! Thankfully baby Eddie was home with his Nanna
