Scotland lockdown from midnight.

Postby Workingman » 04 Jan 2021, 14:49

It looks very much like the one back in March but with no travel to or from Scotland and it will "initially" last until Frb 1st, but is open to review.

Just watching Sturgeon on the news and she is impressive. She had done her homework and sounded honest when questioned about the vaccine and the numbers and the timeline. Same with test and trace and capacity v tests - the capacity is there but is currently needs driven so the numbers do not match - this process could change. She was also open about the need for schools, colleges and universities to close and the difficulties it will cause. People must work from home where they can and the rest can only got out for essential needs such a food shopping, medications and exercise - no more than two over the age of 12, anywhere.

The whole list of new rules / laws is not yet out, but they are rumoured to be as strict as they can get without making everyone housebound for a month.

The pressure is now on other places.....

Well now, that didn't take long. Major Catch-up is going to address us at 8pm.

I’m assuming Boris will shut schools, colleges and universities.

Either that or bring in some form of curfew.

How much further can he go though?

Not everyone can work from home.

But whatever they bring in won’t work unless they enforce it.

Yet again over the weekend we had groups of walkers around the village and the Rural Police had to go out and rescue 22 people from 9 cars on Saturday when the snow came - not one person was local to the area.

We have two cottages on our lane both owned by Londoners who use them as holiday cottages. Both of them arrived the night it was declared that London was going into tier 4.

I don’t know how they can enforce the rules but they really must.

One of our GP’s is ex army and he said in the last full lockdown that road blocks need setting up to stop people from travelling.

We’ve got similar around here Debbie with Cannock Chase. The car parks are full and those who can’t get on them are parking on roadsides and stupidly double parking in some places. It’s become a place for large groups to get together with little regard for others.

The Birmingham Evening Mail ‘helpfully’ listed it as a place to go for walks

The government are only listening to one group of scientists.
They are not listening to economists, or to cancer, heart and mental health specialists.
There will be a backlash.
People want their old lives back. They are sick of listening to lie after lie about how long lockdown is going to last for and having their children's education thrown in the shredder and losing their jobs and businesses.
There is going to be a reckoning for all this.

Oh, and our neighbour is a nurse in Birmingham and has just sent a message around on the street group urging us to all take care as she’s seeing first hand that the situation in the hospitals is worse than back in the Spring.

Jo, we have similar. At a place called Newmillerdam near here (a lake, forest and walks) you can't get in the car park.
This is on weekdays in January when the walks are deeply muddy and the weather is foul.
