Tonight, some time between 8:45 and 9:00pm, Perseverance rover will attempt to land on Mars. The 24hr news services are covering it.

This is up there with the Moon landings, Hubble, Voyagers, Cassini etc., but there is only a 50:50 chance of success. Fingers well and truly crossed.

It is billed as a NASA mission, but it is a global collaborative effort with systems from companies and countries around the world, much of the hi-tech stuff is from the UK.

It is now being known as "Percy".

Heck of an achievement. I'll be very interested to see if they can get that helicopter "Ingenuity" flying .....
