Signing in at the doctor's

Postby Workingman » 02 Apr 2021, 11:56

The monitor asks for the first letter of your surname. It then asks for your DOB - number / month / full year. It then asks if the details are correct and if you hit "Yes" it gives your name, time of appointment and any delay. Hit "Finish" and you are in. It is usually only me.

I have just been up, first time in months, and there were two names to choose from! A new family must have recently registered. The first name was Frances where mine (officially) is Francis and it all felt a bit odd, but in a nice way. I have a twin!

Have any of you found anything similar?

Yes. When I started work at Club 24 in Leeds in the 80's another bloke called Nick Hill joined. The first month he was there they paid him my bonus!

Poor lad; a drop in wages is never a good thing.

Was it the services company or the dance club? I have you down as a bit of a mover. ;) :D :D

It was the IT department of a credit house WM. If you bought a video camera from Curry's on credit or a leather coat from Next on credit Club 24 would buy the debt from them and make their money on the interest.
They were based on Claypit Lane. The site is now a student hall of residence, right opposite the Leeds Arena.

Got it. So you're not a mover.

The club was on East Parade, downstairs of an office block.

Back in the 80s there was another Joanne Taylor (my maiden name) registered with the same dentist, I always used to double check that they had the correct notes each time after they were about to prep me for her filling on one visit

There are many many Joneses in our part of the world, fewer than 20 miles from the Welsh border, but it is a bit worrying that there is another Karen Jones at our doctor's surgery, with the same DoB :? I always double check with reception that they have the right one  :?

Many years ago, when Mrs O was in Yeovil hospital for observation during the last term of pregnancy, I got a call at work to say she was being discharged home, so I went in to pick her up. When we arrived home, the phone was ringing. It was the hospital, they were frantic - they'd discharged the wrong Mrs O. Complete coincidence that someone with the same first name and surname was on the ward at the same time, especially as ours is an "uncommon" surname in the south of England.

No harm done at the end of the day, but as Kaz and Jo pointed out, you can never be too careful .....
