hmmm, just after midday and it's out, not really ideal so please keep an eye open on it. Fingers crossed though that it is "just" a female out looking for either nesting material or extra food - in which case prepare for the pitter patter of little feet - how exciting.
If you don't already Ossie, please put some dry cat food and a bowl of water out for it (no milk and no bread, and definitely NOT mealworms please)
Because of the cold weather we've had there just aren't as many bugs about that they'd usually eat so any helpling hand is hugely appreciated.

Yes, my first thought was that it was a foraging female, Meriad. It was quite a fair-sized specimen. It has been exceptionally dry round here for a number of weeks, the ground has been rock hard, but has only now just started to soften up with the recent rain.
We have had a shallow bowl of water out on the patio for at least a couple of years now (hence the poo!) but we dare not put out any food as we have a breeding colony of rats around, and they are quite brazen, we saw one scurrying across the lawn only last month. Our jackdaws and sparrows are both messy eaters on the bird feeders, and what the wood pigeons don't hoover up on the ground, the rats will ....

Ah, but if you put the cat food out, you'll help the hedgehogs and possibly attract a cat or two and and the cats will keep the rats at bay win win

Tom’s taken to wearing lovely Moss Bross shirts for work that cost £40 each so I’m being ever so careful with those in the machine.

Joe went to Solihull to buy a new top for his birthday night out. I didn’t see it before he left as he had a coat on but when he came home I noticed the distinctive Stone Island tag on the sleeve.
He paid £245 for a sweatshirt

You spoil those kids Jo.... seriously if they want to buy something so expensive that it needs handwashing then they should do that themselves But chances are the material is the same as your average top from Next or H&M and he's just paid £200 over the top for the label

Hogs.... no sign of any around here as yet. The nights have been too cold and the days too wet, I reckon.

I put water out for them and handfuls of dry cat food in the shrubs. If I put the food in bowls the cats eat it but they are not too keen on going in to the bushes.

I don't think I have ever paid that much for an item of clothing Aunty Rose made my first two wedding dresses, and I bought my silk beaded frock for my wedding to Mick from Monsoon for just under £200

Oh hang on, I bought Mick a lovely tweed coat from M&S that was just over the £250, if I remember rightly He's had a lot of wear out of it though.

Shirts for work? Over 10 years ago now, when I was still working, we had one of those direct-selling book/gift pedlars call at the office on a monthly basis. One visit, he was selling short-sleeved white Rael Brook shirts for £3.99 each or £10 for 3. So I bought 3 . I've still got 'em in the wardrobe; they get the odd outing in the summer! I was never entirely convinced they weren't a knock-off or fakes (no crest on the Rael Brook tag ) but somewhat cheaper than those £40 Moss Bros efforts .....

As for £245 for a sweat shirt , I don't own a sweatshirt, and at those prices, I won't be anytime soon either ....
