Get your hands off my pension!

Postby Workingman » 09 Jul 2021, 10:19

I paid in tax and NI since I was 16, much of it in service to my country. It was a deal both sides agreed to and it should not be broken just because in one year the increase could be better than expected.

The UK already has one of the lowest OAP rates in Europe and our incomes and outgoings are fixed - no overtime for us poor sods. There have been many times when inflation has been higher than the pension increase and governments of all colours have been happy with that. Now it looks to be temporarily going the other way the *******s are bitching and moaning.

Us women also paid in tax and NI, and were promised our pensions at 60. It didn't stop them moving mine and hundreds of thousands of others to 66. That has robbed me of over £40k :(

A lot of the girls I went to school with are in the same boat Kaz.
It is an absolute scandal. It is like playing a football match and ten minutes before the end of the game the rules are changed to mean that instead of being 2-0 up, you are 3-0 down.

It's said to be going to cost the govt £3billion

That may be true but what about they will get back in tax?

As there must be a lot of pensioners like myself who will end up paying more tax on my private pension

Cromwell, that's all the girls at my school as well as all my female cousins.

Vic, it's give with one hand and take with the other. As prices rise so does the VAT collected, and as many pensioners do not have much left over between pension days it is safe to say that most of what they spend is on VAT chargeable goods, services and utilities.

What I do not understand is how the party that introduced this ever got in again.... allegedly it is their supporters who have been hit hardest: and the blue rinsers who vote for them; and still they do. It should have been their Poll Tax. They were the ones who benefitted. Yet, for some reason, they got in again,

We are mad....
