Flu jabs

Postby TheOstrich » 19 Sep 2021, 21:26

My mate in Bridport reports that he and his partner actually had their flu jabs last Saturday at their local GP surgery.
As far as I am aware, our GP practice doesn't even know when the vaccines are arriving yet, let alone start to book people in - in 2020, they actually arranged a mass vaccination clinic at the local nightclub.
Master O says he hasn't been formally told anything about Covid booster jabs for front-line staff at his hospital yet, but the rumour is they'll be opening an internal walk-in clinic for staff very shortly - they have no idea if they we will flu-jabbed at the same time.

It all sounds very hit and miss to me. Have you heard about your flu jabs yet?

We were booked in to have our flu jab last week, but our GP hadn't received their supply so we were cancelled. They said they will call us as soon as supplies arrive.

Nothing has been said here either.

I normally wait until Mitchell has had his, he's always first in line  then book ours, as I know the clinic has them.

Nothing said here either.
Unfortunately our local GP practice has adapted a bunker mentality. Seeing a GP is very difficult, their doors are still locked, the have signs up forbidding entry and come out to see people sitting in their cars, or ring them on their mobile phones to tell them they can leave their car and come into the "red zone" (I kid you not) now.

So, hardly surprising we've heard nothing.

Our surgery wanted us to have them this week but we couldn’t find a suitable day. I’ve spoken to them and said we will get them when we come back from our holiday in mid-October and they were happy with that.

Crommers, I noticed the DM have started a campaign to get GP's to sort themselves out. From the many comments I have seen on social media, it is very much needed :(

Our surgery started with the over-65s on Saturday so my Mom has now had hers.

I had a text from them one afternoon last week saying that they were now booking for under-65s so to call to make an appointment.
I spent 45 minutes in the phone queue only to be told that the texts had gone out in error and they have no idea when they’ll be receiving vaccines for that age group (and that they’re very busy already without the amount of people calling to book  In that time they could’ve sent another text to say it was an error!). I’ve since booked me, Tom and Joe into the pharmacy at Sainsbury’s in early October.

John wasn’t eligible for a free one until last year when it was decided to do all over 50s but his surgery already booked him in three weeks ago with an appointment at the end of October. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen.

As for Covid boosters, the GP alliance which uses the hotel in Cannock started doing them on Saturday, the first clinic was for people who had their second jab before the end of March.
