Petrol queue madness

We managed to get enough to fill our smaller car, B's little Yarris. It was down to the last few litres. The Zafira is almost empty too. We could manage here, without a car, as both D and the shops are within half an hour's walking distance, but on the 9th we're driving to Staines, leaving the car outside my ex's, meeting the boys and getting a train into Waterloo. My sister is 60 that day, and we're having a family meal at the Skylon, then an overnight. Without petrol it would be trains all the way, expensive

I also thought so Saundra and same as you am amazed they don't. Surely all emergency vehicles should have their own supplies?

I thought that too, how often do you see one queuing at the pumps?

Last Friday, when all this really started, I did spot an ambulance in the long queue waiting to use the filling station here by Aldi, along with the Frome Coaches mini-bus that comes into town to transport the school kids to outlying villages.

There was an ambulance station around the corner from our last house and they had their own pumps back then.

Tom filled up last night, he went out at around 8 and got some. Joe texted me just before 7 this morning, he’d queued for 15 minutes in Stafford and managed to fill up at the Esso station in the town centre. He said the petrol station on the A34 was barriered off.
The A34 runs between here and Stafford, there’s Asda selling petrol just south of Cannock town centre and then there’s only one (little, independent) petrol station on the A34 between there and Stafford (and doesn’t the owner know it, his prices are always sky high). That’s 11 miles with one petrol station and it’s not the sort of road you’d want to run out on. It’s fast and mainly rural so no footpaths for a lot of it.

We filled up about three weeks since but have been virtually nowhere since, so we've still got over half a tank left. We will need some eventually but the stupidity and selfishness of some people is past belief. Social media is now being used to alert groups of people to let them know that a petrol station has has a delivery, and they all pile down there to top up and fill their newly bought jerricans.

Your right crommers out local chat page is full of people saying what garage is open we only have 3
?plus some are selling gerry cans found in the back of their sheds for £20

There are good safety reasons why proper jerrycans are constructed the way they are. Those in the videos could easily burst / explode. IMO the pumps should have been turned off and the police alerted.
