We were hit by lightening again  :o

Luckily, nothing was touched, but this is the second time. Must be something about this house

It's absolutely tipping it down, the roof is leaking into the back terrace and the pool is filling up rapidly

When was the last time, Jan?

You are one building on top of a hill....lightning strikes the high points. Move to the valley then you'll only have floods to worry about, when it rains. :D :D :D

Last time was few years ago. Knocked out the solar system.

A friend suggested a lightning rod, will have to look into it.

Prefer being high up, rather than low down.

Afternoon all, it’s drizzly and grey here but at least the fog has lifted after two days.

John’s taken a week’s holiday so is home this week (not that you’d know it by the number of phone calls he’s getting). We’ve been to Stafford this morning to pick up some presents ordered from M&S, our local Simply Food is easier but when I placed the order on Thursday they could be be delivered to there until the 28th.

One isn’t a Christmas present though, it’s a very cute little denim pinafore and stripy body suit for our three days old great niece, Layla :D

Just heard that the Frank Turner concert we’ve got tickets for in Feb has been cancelled, he’s taken the early decision to cancel the whole tour. It’s yet another disappointment but the right decision.

Al, how long without rain?? It feels like we can’t go two hours without here

Have a good day all :)

Jan, lightning protection systems can be very complex and expensive, A pole with a copper strip or wires is not just it ....but sacrificial pot(s) might be cheaper for the few hits on a domestic property. They are just slotted terracotta / ceramic pots on poles at the highest points of a building, the gable ends - used since medieval times. Look them up.

Our hangar was hit in '76 and it took months and lots of digging and wiring to make it lightning safe.

Just get Grumpy to stand on the roof holding a golf club above his head Jan. :D

Lightning rods aren't too expensive here.

But having a pot rattling around in this wind

Evening everyone! Nearly said "Evening all" but then I thought of Dixon of Dock Green!

Been out nearly all day. It was an early start, getting H off to work, then I put some washing on, ran the vacuum round, then went into town to meet Emma for lunch. Her mum is doing really well now, recovering from her heart attack :) Since getting home I've made a pasta sauce with meatballs for dinner. Mick has just gone to pick up B from work.

I haven't wrapped up many presents yet, but it is all bought. I will probably do it tomorrow night - I do cheat a bit though, and use present bags   xx

Planning to ring my sister tonight, to see how everyone is feeling about meeting up this year. My gut feeling is possibly to leave it until Omicron calms down a bit, although we are all fully jabbed and boosted, so we'll see......... :?

Congratulations on the new great niece, Jo! How lovely :Hi: :Hi:

Love to all :) xx

Thanks Kaz, there’s another due in around 5 weeks
Finally some girls in the family! John’s sister has the three boys and then there’s our two, and along came Dylan last year (the oldest nephew’s little boy).

Good to hear that Emma’s mother is recovering well!
