Bird Flu at the local park

Postby Workingman » 21 Dec 2021, 15:57

It has been detected at Golden Acre which has a lake and small stream. There are many types of water bird including Swans, Canada geese, ducks and others.

It is a very popular park, especially for dog walkers and young children (to feed the birds) and the advice is to stay away and not touch any birds or their feathers on the ground till DEFRA confirm it is safe to go back.

Such a shame but part of the problem is that the birds are so used to the public feeding them that they actually come up to you to see if you have anything for them.

but on a serious note, bird flu is horrendous this year. Not a day seems to go by that I don't get alerted about another outbreak on the chicken forum I belong to. Thankfully where I live we usually are quite safe, but still... it's quite dire
