Happy Christmas everyone. We've been at it for hours so far. Guests arrive in an hour then it should all flow from there.

Special wishes to WM and Kaz, illness in the family is never good, Christmas time just makes it much more poignant.

Miserable, grey day out there, quite chilly, so certainly no après-lunch perambulation.

We've just done the washing up after a cut-down version of a Christmas Meal - chicken breasts but only half the trimmings. No PiB, as I know the Yorkshire Constabulary has me on it's radar , and no sprouts or roast potatoes either, as the Ostrich is having to watch his girth .....

Fish fingers tomorrow then, saundra!

Will be heading out for our "lunch" in about 20 minutes.

Been blowing a hooley most of the day and showery, then sunny. Not a day for a walk after lunch

Well here the hostess shorted out, took the oven down for an unspecified time (unknown), which meant that the beef was a lot more rare than we wanted and the whole meal was not as hot as expected.

A good day nevertheless.

We had turkey, suckling pig and kid with two lots of roast potatoes, cauli and broccoli cheese, parsnips, stuffing, sprouts, beans and carrots, cranberry sauce and mint sauce, as Jan though they were bring lamb

Then a choice chocolate cake, lemon cake, bolo de rei (handmade, very impressive) rice pudding (the boys love it) and doce de casa. Every-oe makes it how they like it and it was lush.
