Should Boris resign?

Mistake after mistake seems to be the way Boris operates as PM. I think the country is horrified at the way he ignored his own rules on COVID restrictions. Certainly he seems to have lost the confidence of a big proportion of the electorate, as well as many of his own backbenchers. I can't see that there will be any change in the way that he operates in the future, as this laissez-faire attitude seems to be the nature of the man. He has been called out on so many occasions as being untruthful that many have lost all respect for him which will never be regained. Maybe he should resign with dignity before any more unsavoury stories start to emerge, rather than waiting to be thrown out by his fellow Tory MPs. If there are any more skeletons in the cupboard you can be sure his friend Dominic Cummings will ensure they see the light of day.

If he does resign we will have had four Prime Ministers in six years, Cameron, May, Johnson and ?

Gove, Javid, Sunak, Truss, Hunt all this lot are too smoothie smoothie Blairites to me.
Johnson I think it's fair to say, has been a massive disappointment to his supporters. He hasn't sorted out the channel invasion, he's gone all green, he's been captured by the SAGE lot, he's abandoned his anti I'd card stance.
And with all that we could still end up with someone worse.

Just look at the shambles that is the Tory front bench, but if anyone can find someone worse than the Johnson the Tories are the ones.

We are in so much of a mess that few will want the job so he is probably safe for a while yet.

Good God yes. I'm actively looking to contact my local Tory MP to ask him to consider submitting a letter of no confidence in Johnson to Sir Graham Brady.

He is a charlatan and a fool.

Be extremely careful what you wish for. Back in the 90's it was ABT (anyone but the Tories), when Blair got in. Look how well that worked. France has ABLP and that is a disaster every single time.

I doubt he will resign. No need, nobody actively queueing up for his job for at least another 6 months. Taking the PM's role, right now, is a one way ticket to obscurity, if anyone is unsure about that, they should go have a nice chat with Gordon Brown. "Gordon Who" you say? Precisely.

Nobody is taking Boris' job to be buried at the next election and permanently tainted with an election loss. Everyone with a prayer of leading the Tories wants Boris to lose at the next election so they can knife him in the back and have 5 years to build back into winning the following election and making a good swing at it.

This is reality.

As for the other stuff? When it came to that Christmas there was a HUGE proportion of the population who just ignored the law and did their own thing. I know chunks of my family did. Imagine, today, they are "horrified" that the MP's did the same.... I find it so funny.

Boris will only get the heave when it looks like the worst is over, when it looks like there is a microscopic chance the Tories will win the next election and when it looks like taking the role will be less damaging than just sitting still and letting it all unfold.

Here's the thing though. There are years left until the next election. In the meantime the UK is going to unwind out of this Covid nightmare very quickly, the economy is starting to really pick up again and there will be growth. These are all good things for a PM.

As for the green stuff. It will, eventually, filter through that green energy is a once in a half millennium opportunity to make hay whilst the sun shines. Jobs wise, business wise, exports wise, if the UK embraces renewable and CO2 neutral technologies it will be in the leaders of the world and make a killing out of it. Boris knows this, our business leaders know this and only those who's jobs and wealth are embedded in the fossil fuel economy challenge it.

Just consider this, had the country already been well on the way to transitioning away from gas for electricity and heat, what would we care about this sudden shortage of gas? Energy stability does not come through a pipeline from Russia or from ships from the US. We have the ability to produce our own power, our own heating, our own goods to give us that and we can then decide what to do with our own gas and oil.

So all these "rants" about Boris? Who stands to gain. Look there first.

He may not look or sound like a politician. But haven't we been moaning about the political class for years now? They look and sound, exactly like politicians. The second we get someone who doesn't, we then complain that he's not a "politician"....

Tomorrow's prime ministers questions should be interesting. No doubt Boris will stutter and bluster and try to put the blame on someone else. One thing for sure, he will certainly scuttle away at the first opportunity,

Personally I don't care. The voters voted for him when things were a hell of a lot more damaging at Westminster than they are today. The MP's were running away with the country and the government, parliament didn't respect our PM and all hell was out for noon.

So we voted for a comedian. Now he acts like a comedian....

We don't like it.

It seems Rishi Sunak will not be present at PM's questions today, he is visiting a pharmacological company who manufacture Covid vaccine. Sounds a bit like when John Major developed a migraine/toothache when Margaret Thatcher's job was on the line. There is always someone with ambition who will take on a job that apparently 'nobody wants'.

I just watched PMQ, he is such an idiot and I cannot understand why there is not more of an uproar in the House. If that was here, he would be gone by now. At the moment, a couple of our politicians are in court over a golf outing held early in our first lockdown.
