Is that the old gatehouse on the Donny Road just a mile or so before Nostell Priory? The ex MiL had a thing for Chippendale furniture and there used to be quite a good collection at Nostell - it was an Otley connection thing. We spent a few good summer days there and in the country park with her and our children in the 80s and 90s as well as Temple Newsham - another Chippendale place. Shame about the tree.

That's the one WM. There are two gate houses together just past the Redbeck garage, then the road forks and just past the Cock and Crown pub there is this gate house set into the old estate wall.
It is a shame about the tree. In summer the horse chestnuts are beautiful.

Jo, Dudley came from the North and Eunice from the South so they had largely blown themselves out by the time they got here. Franklin is from the West and there is the Aire Gap, a low point in the Pennines, where the Ribble and Aire valleys run and so the wind gets funnelled through. There is flooding on the Aire, Wharfe, Nidd and Calder though most of it is in the countryside and not, as yet, in the towns.

It has been coming in waves since the afternoon but looks to be settling down now.
