Electric Kettles

My electric kettle seems to come tothe end of its useful life. The switch will not stay on. I have to hold it down to boil the water.

What make and model do you have and can recommend

Can't help you with that one Cruiser, mine's Portuguese.

Duillt are supposed to be good, but I suppose any supermarket one will do?

Mine is a Russell Hobbs it's burgundy
Fast boil not a jug kettle looks small but easy to hold
Had it a good few years

Mine is an Asda 'Home' job bought in a panic one evening when the Russel Hobbs one went "pop". It was supposed to be a temporary purchase about five years ago for £6 but it just will not stop working. It is used four or five times every day.

Very white and very plastic, but It simply will not give up!

We had a Russell Hobbs, bought at Waitrose, a few years back. Living in a hard water area eventually did for it, despite maintenance; the wire mesh thingy over the spout perished and the limescale was getting harder to budge.
So to get a replacement locally during the pandemic, we turned again to Waitrose but - they weren't selling Russell Hobbs, only John Lewis brand. This was after all the John Lewis store closures were announced and we assumed they were shifting surplus stock however they could.

Well basically, it was rubbish. Made in China, it was extremely noisy, and the glass gauge was positioned behind the handle, not at the side, and you couldn't read it if you were holding it and trying to fill it. We certainly wouldn't recommend them. So after a week, we dug the old Russell Hobbs back out from the garage where it was awaiting disposal down the tip, and started using that again. The John Lewis contraption was assigned "back up" and put in the storge cupboard.

The old Russell Hobbs is still going!

Another vote for Russel Hobbs. I've had mine for years now and it's still going strong. I bought the predecessor to this one because I really wanted a quiet boil kettle and it is. I'd definitely be replacing with the same again when the time comes

Ours is a Morphy Richards, our second or third, and it’s very good. We don’t spend a lot on kettles because they do give up the ghost after a few years.

I can't remember what make mine is, but it's pale blue and came with matching toaster It was fairly cheap on Amazon, so I don't know how long it will last
