Great news on the transfer Kaz. Shame about his driving test, but he can always try again, it took me 3 goes.

Great news about his transfer Kaz, such a shame he didn’t pass his test though. He’ll get it soon!

Good luck to him Kaz. Of the three of ours I trained to drive, our middle daughter took 4 times. She was very nervous during the test. We got a really great instructor for her, Country dancer we knew. She passed then.

For me the problem is always about understanding what the examiner wants. To me it always seem like you must be comfortable but not too comfortable. Positive but not too positive. Cautious but not too cautious.

I always felt like "make you damned mind up!", by the time I got to my 4th driving license.

The funniest one was when the sergeant major said "what would you do if the exhaust fell of your motorcycle on the Autobahn". Without thinking I said "I'd go and get the bloody thing". To which he said "what would you do if the exhaust fell of your motorcycle on the Autobahn!". At which I gave him the correct response and I passed. The Army just wanted people who could drive, not ticks in a box.

Thanks Ossie :)

I think you have a point there Suff. He’s actually a really good driver, I know I’m a non-driver but both Mick (who’s taken him out for lots of practice) and his instructor thought he had a really good chance of passing. Oh well :cute:

That was how Joe was too. He passed on his third attempt, but his instructor had been certain he’d pass first time. John used to take him out for practice too and said he was a natural driver.

He loves driving and will go anywhere, we always laugh about how he came home from the test centre with his pass certificate and was in the house long enough for us to insure his car (12 minutes IIRC) before driving off, we didn’t see him for hours
