As for PM Starmer? It is Starmer's to lose. Barring a small miracle it doesn't matter who the Tories put in place, they're going to lose the next election.
As for bullying? That is the job of the whips. To remind the MP's that they are not the government. The Government is, essentially, the PM and the ministers the PM puts together as a team. Parliament is there to approve, or reject, the agenda of the government. It is also their job to remind MP's that they don't just get to ditch the PM because they think their own seat is threatened. Especially when protecting their behind may tank the whole party. It is not a pleasant job but some of the whips are rather more "enthusiastic" than others.
If anyone thinks that the Labour party whips are angels they should disabuse themselves of this immediately.
