No I'd love May to fit that bill. So when it comes to voting for a new PM everyone could have it fresh in their minds what was going on last time.

So far the press and the Tory knife artists have managed to get the fence out of Starmers butt and firmly cast him as the protector of Brexit Opportunities.

In fact it would be the ultimate irony.

First May survives a confidence vote, then it gets so bad she has to step down. Johnson wins the PM and calls a GE, generates a Massive majority and then winds up in a confidence vote. Which he wins. Only for it to become so bad he is forced to step down.

It would only be absolute justice if May were to take over again and flip the bird to the connivers and schemers.

The main thing I see out of this is that the careers of Sunak and Javid just came to a screaming halt. Who could trust them? No new PM is going to give them key roles, they can't be trusted to stand behind the PM. Well at least not without a knife in the hand.

Raab is in an interesting position. He's ruled out running for party leader categorically right now. Sensible. It means he gets a clear run at it in 24 when they collapse at the next GE.

We are now in a position where we have a reshuffled cabinet of incompetents. Almost half of those on the government payroll have gone, and the promotion of people to the cabinet table who wouldn't get a seat on a kid's picnic blanket.

I have no idea who will be the next PM, nor do I care, but I suspect it will only be a temporary appointment.

I know they won't but I would love the Tory party rules to be changed to allow a non MP to become the leader of the party. Then there would be a wholly unelected PM.

As this sorry saga unfolds the architects of this little piece of political skulduggery are gong to howl with outrage at the consequences.

Major, May, Heseltine, Bridgen and a few other Tories are saying that he should go from No 10, not in the physical sense as he needs somewhere to live, but in the political sense. He has resigned and the process to select a new leader starts on Monday. They say that Raab, as Deputy PM, should be the interim until a new leader is found as that is what his position is supposed to be there for.

This is like when a whole bunch of people start a war but have no real plan for what happens when they win.

Zero sympathy. They wanted it now they can live with it. Even after his resignation as the party leader, he has not gone to the queen and relinquished his position as PM. That means he's PM until the party has a new leader and I doubt there is very much anyone can do about it, he is the PM and the party doesn't have a new leader who can demand his position. As PM, he can hire or fire ministers because the PM IS, effectively, the Government. He could fire every single minister and appoint new ministers and there is very little they can do. What are they going to do? Force him to resign? May also remained as PM until the election was over and a new leader was in place to take over.

Oh everyone thought they'd "get rid of him" and it would all be done and dusted in a few days. They should have referred to our, largely unwritten, constitution.

The press and the MP's and everyone else who doesn't like him is going to go on and on and on about it. The only person who can force him to stand down now is the Queen. Perhaps they should be petitioning her. But they don't want that because they don't want that expectation set. If they let her do that now, then Charles might do it again on his own cognizance later.

This is so much fun. I haven't been so amused in years.
