Not that your figures or mine matter, we are not getting an Indyref - rejoin the EU, any time soon. And when we do oil will be a banned substance. The world will be running on mermaid farts and unicorn burps - it's a net-zero game.

Well no binding referendum anyway. Not until another government is in.

That being said, having a late 2023 referendum, followed by a 2024 Westminster referendum which might just sweep the boards again for SNP, puts the Nats in a different position than they are in today.

Sturgeon justifies here Net Zero stance the same way the Norwegians do. They will sell the poison to others but won't actively partake of the act of suicide. Nothing much to be gained or lost right now but positions will be taken.

There is only one thing I know for sure, and it is whenever a Scottish Nationalist gets to his feet during PM Questions, it's a signal for me to switch off the television.

Well then you should be in favour of indyref2. Because if they win they are gone and they you won't have the hassle. If they loose their bubble will be burst. Yes they will still take the government to task about ignoring Scottish wants and needs, but their overall rhetoric will be muted.

Apparently they don't pay their way, get more than they are worth and are just severely disruptive so why the reticence to let them go?

After all, if the reality of the picture were as it were presented, there would be absolutely no reason not to let them have as many referendums as they want in order to get out? Their geographical location causes no problems for England. There is no GFA and no "peace" to disturb by putting up a border across the country. Scotland could easily be isolated up in the North and left to do their own thing without EU contamination for the UK.

So what's the big deal?

Unless the picture is NOT actually as it is presented.

In fact the Tory party would gain dramatically from losing all those SNP seats in Westminster. Without Scotland the last Tory Majority would have been astronomical. You have to ask yourself what it is really about, this demand that the Scots are not given chances to make their own self determination. After all, if the Scots don't want a referendum all they need to do is stop voting for the SNP and remember that in Hollyrood the SNP face a modified PR vote. Meaning if they win there they truly are representative of the wishes of the people.

A lot of questions there Never asked or answered in the whole situation.

I am not in favour of a referendum Suff. I am a unionist and separation is the last thing I want. It is because they are constantly banging on about a referendum that I switch off. I don't want to hear it. Are there no other issues that the Scottish MPs wish to raise in the House of Commons? I would have thought so!

It is always OK being the senior partner in a union.

It is always the case that the senior partner of a union doesn't want to hear when the junior partner wants to leave.

But.

That doesn't mean that the junior partner has no need/reason/right, to leave.

That's the problem.
