Why?
All our major cities are situated on rivers, light water, the nuclear coolant in SMRs; they also have multiple reservoirs. These waters can be used for cooling the local reactors, but do not become nuclear contaminated. They can still be used for drinking and flushing the bog.
They are much more likely to be contaminated by chemical and sewage outflows from the chemicals we use in our washing / dishwasher machines, sinks, and washing our hair, and toilets.
