300m underwater. No problem to escape, just open the door and swim. No air or equipment though.

The Notting Hill Carnival has just finished.

During this event there have been seven stabbings, one of which was fatal.
209 arrests of which 46 were for assault, 8 for sexual assault and 33 for possession of an offensive weapon.
Either 34 or 74 (bit of a variation there) police officers were hurt.

I don't see any justification for this event to continue. It costs millions to police and to clear up all the rubbish afterwards. Local houses and businesses habitually board up their windows to prevent damage. According to one ex-policeman the last day of the carnival is when the local gangs "settle scores".
It has been suggested that the event be moved to Hyde Park. Why not move it to Mars?

And you think anyone would be brave enough to suggest that in this Woke world???????

It wouldn't matter what happens, hell will freeze over before anyone would be brave enough to try and stop the Notting Hill Carnival

but to be fair I bet you get similar numbers for most of those offences, except the stabbings, at any festival and probably far more drug related

The Edinburgh festival runs for 3 weeks with huge crowds and massive numbers of tourists, it finished yesterday. Seems there was a fight and one man was seriously injured in the head, who then died. It was evening and probably a lot of drink taken.

Nobody was stabbed.

And now we find out that one of the women sexually assaulted was a police officer. Also noticable is the dead silence from our politicians. No condemnation whatever about the crimes committed.
You are probably right about the wokery MM. But if we have reached the point where a female police officer can be sexually assaulted on duty by several men, and the political classes just shuffle their feet and look the other way then as a country we've hit some kind of low point.

And don't forget tonight's BBC News report from Chorley about the feral teenage gang brutalising, kicking and beating up innocent kids. Police response to 999 calls re incidents has apparently been non-existent. Concerned mothers have now resorted to picketing the local police station and mounting vigilante patrols in local parks.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62722082

"They punched her numerous times and stamped on her head. They all took turns. They pretended to let her up, but then hit her back to the ground and did it again," says Lisa.
"The doctor actually said that one more stamp to the head would have most likely taken her life."
Lisa says the police were called as the assault was happening.
"We rang 999 while she was on the phone. We begged them. Nobody appeared. The [police] never arrived for 48 hours."
Lisa says despite calling 999, there was "no urgency whatsoever" despite officers being aware of the group having caused trouble across the town. It took weeks, she says, for Bethany's attackers to be arrested. Two of the girls involved have now written a letter of apology after being given a conditional caution.
Although Lisa believes it's not a case of officers failing to care. "I got the impression the police believed it was pointless - that nothing will come of it."

If you read the whole article, of which the above is a flavour, it's horrifying.

This is not a new thing. When the Grahams were terrorising Glenrothes, they had 75 childrens panel judgements outstanding and were still terrorising the town. The father dealt drugs and was caught 6 times for DUI without a license. Every time he was let out because "his son's needed him".

The police were sickened with it. No matter how many times they hauled them in, the kids just walked right out the door home and started again.

Then, eventually, we got a councillor with balls and they eventually evicted them. Up Aberdeen way. The father and boys tried to re-start the drugs industry. A bit shortsighted in Aberdeen area. One by one they were all found dead.

Amazingly the entire problem vanished and only remains in the memories of those it touched. There is a message there somewhere but I'm sure it got lost in translation.

That is one way of doing it Suff.
Os, that is appalling. Girls beating up other girls is bad, humiliating the victims on social media is awful.
What is most shocking to me is the attitude of the police, who far from admitting how badly they have performed, seem rather proud of themselves.
In the Telegraph yesterday; the Crown Prosecution Service said it was "not in the public interest" to prosecute someone who had stolen £640 worth of perfume.

There has been a critical strategic review of policing https://www.policingreview.org.uk/wp-co ... report.pdf from earlier this year.

The Foreword, p14, is pretty damning yet the Conclusion, p170, is strangely wishy-washy.

Problems and failings are recognised but many of the solutions appear to be cotton wool and sugar coated. It's one thing to have well trained officers on five-year licences and another to let them do their jobs - with force if necessary.

Local policing working with other agencies is an obvious "yes" as are Regional and National Police agencies to deal with non-local and more serious and organised crimes, but without "force" and meaningful sentencing it will all be a waste of time.

What irks many of us is the use of technology. CCTV (some with microphones) and facial recognition cameras are sold as a way to keep us safe and stop crimes. They do no such thing. They record (some) crimes once they have been committed and they might make it easier to catch some of the criminals, but the crime was not stopped.
