Something new on VV?

Postby Workingman » 01 Sep 2022, 14:45

When I used to compose a post I could put any old typo in there and it would be accepted. It was the main reason I composed in a text editor, do a spell check, then C&P into VV, so as not to look stupid.

I am now finding that if I post directly any mistakes get highlighted, underlined and in blue, as I type. Also, if there are words acceptable in my text editor - contractions, proper nouns, etc. - they now get flagged when I C&P.

It is doing my head in.

Hmm, then I wonder if it is an Edge browser thing. Blurghh is underlined and so is Manchaster.

It's an odd 'un. Also flagged. as is the laughing icon.

Found it!

It is in Edge Settings>>>Languages.

At the last update Edge turned on Use Writing Assistance and then something else called Microsoft Editor with its add-ons.

It is now off and I am back to normal. :Hi:

Interesting. I don't have the assistance or editor functions at all.

You will eventually get an Edge update.... then it will be there, then Microsoft will decide how you will work. ;)

Speak of the devil. I went back to the about page and it did, indeed, push an update at me. Restart and. Nope, none of them.

Os, that is all I had till yesterday.

I now have the Writing Assitance and a Translation Tool - all turned OFF!

I am on full Win 11 if that makes any sense.
