Where do these people get them from?

I like bangers. The louder the boom the better, but at 9:30 PM on a Wednesday night a month from Bonfire night?

We only have them here on New Years Eve. Sometime festas, but not normally.

And then the local farmers let loose with their shotguns

There is a shop near where I live which has a sign permanently displayed saying they sell fireworks.

Heard some one Thursday night about nine p.m. It was not a special day so do not knowmwhat was being celebrated.

Organised displays are OK but lots of pubs now seem to have them for any celebration such as weddings. They seem to go on for so long
and are a waste of money

Last year, and also on New Year, we had an idiot let off one of these on the common behind our street.

We had kids letting them off at 11.30 pm the other month, on an estate near us. Ridiculous.

I love fireworks and think they're super pretty; but!!!!! as much as I do like them I am overly aware of how much they negatively affect too many people and animals and how much damage they can do and for that reason can't stand them

Not only do I think they need to be much much more strictly controlled with regards to letting them off but I don't understand why they have to be so loud. There are plenty fairly silent ones that are big and showy-offy without having the same horrendous impact on people and animals; there is absolutely no need whatsoever for the excessive bangs

I'd like to see them sold with special licence only and a compulsory registry of where / when they'll be let off so people can check and prepare / be aware. Banning them will never happen unfortunately

And that's the truth.

We can't ban everything, but we can control things. Limit the power (bangs) of these things. Limit their sale dates. Properly enforce the areas they can be set off - it used to be 30m from a public place or road except on special occasions such as Bonfire night, Diwali, Chinese Nwe Year.

I like fireworks, but I do not like the free-for-all we have with today's more powerful versions compared to what we had as kids.
