A place to chat with friends, old and new

Good morning Tuesday

Postby Ally » 25 Jul 2023, 05:13

Good morning.

Glad I'm away from home as it's still up at nearly 40°. David is melting.

Walking into town today. I ordered a pair of trainers which I'll collect and I need some swimming goggles.

Lunch will feature too. :D

Have a great day.

Morning everyone

By heck, that's a blasted cold wind out there  Sunny though

I have ironing to do, but I think we're off out to order wood for the new car port. The Honda is out in the sun, which won't do the paint any good, and although I thought the car port had been sorted, apparently, he still has to work out how much wood and then order it

Out for dinner with friends tonight and as it's the 600 something or other of the Battle for Ourique, the place will be rammed

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Our friends are saying it's the most horrible summer they can remember, Jan.

A cold wind and not very warm nights. :o

Morning all :)

I’m glad you’re here, away from that ridiculous heat Ally, it looks really scary out in S Europe at the moment :( The wildfires out in Rhodes are very close to where we’ve stayed, I feel so sorry for everyone who lives there :( xx

Hope the carport is finished soon then Jan xx

The best way to describe our weather is changeable, the sun was out an hour ago but it’s darkening over now. We’ll be out in a while, hopefully it will be dry enough to walk Fraggle round the dock basin. Round to D’s after that, she had a new gardener coming round last night, hopefully she liked him and he’ll be starting soon. Fingers crossed.

Have a good day everyone xxx

Got that wrong, it's the 884th anniversary of the battle.

They're right Ally, it's a horrible summer so far. We had a few weeks of really hot weather in June, but this month is not nice. As we're on a hill, it's really windy. Normally, it's lovely with t he wind in the summer, but this is a very cold and strong north wind.

Even the cat is coming in at night

Morning all, it’s a nice day here and Edward has gone to play golf. We’re going dancing this afternoon. I have a nice big wash load out on the line so they should be nice and dry before we go out. Otherwise just general stuff to do. My brother phoned earlier and we had a nice chat - my sister is currently on the train on her way to visit him for a couple of nights. Yesterday I checked us in for our cruise which is now less than three weeks away :D

Morning all.
Just about to go into Pontefract for a few bits.
A nice sunny morning but we are supposed to get rain this pm.
MrsC and I went to Rhodes in 1984, the first two weeks in August. The heat! We were in Lindos and it was so hot I couldn't sleep. Had to get up in the middle of the night for a cold shower.
Must dash.
Have a great day everyone.

hello and good morning all

Kaz, I've got friends on holiday in Rhodes at the moment; they were transferred from their hotel last night and moved to one in Rhodes Town and passed the wildfires on their way - less than 10mins drive from their original hotel. I gather they now have made the decision to cut their holiday short and come home on the next available flight - so sad for them. I was saying to my sister that my heart breaks for the locals there - most rely on the summer tourism for their livelihood and this is going to hit really hard, esp after just starting to recover post Covid. And also the loss of wildlife and flora

Jan enjoy the dinner. Will there be celebrations and parade type things in town today?
Ally, Crommers and Osc, enjoy your respective days doing the bits and bobs - Ally have a fab lunch!

well same as most here in the UK, very changeable weather. Beautiful sunshine this morning and the forecasts I looked at said no rain for the day so I've risked it and hung the washing out on the line. Just hope the forecasts are right and I don't come home to wet stuff :D . Apparently our night time temperature today is going to drop right down to 9 degrees - that's just absolutely bonkers for July (nearly August!).

Have a lovely day all x

Morning all, it’s dull now after a bright start.

I walked Bill first thing and then went for a run. Tom’s home and Joe’s away camping in Cornwall with Amanda. Next week they switch it around and Tom will be away, he’s off to Berlin for a few days and then he’s getting a train to Krakow.

Off to the cinema to see Oppenheimer this evening.

Have a good day all :)
