My sister

Sue has just rung me. They are still in Ireland, her shoulder was still causing trouble so she went to a walk in private clinic for more meds. The doctor was concerned so arranged an xray, didn't like what he saw so sent it to the university hospital. Goodness knows what the original A&E doctor saw because it shows it's broken in 4 places, is dislocated and they can see lots of fragments etc, She was then sent to the local hospital who kept her in overnight for a CT scan. It definitely needs reconstruction surgery and the consultant there said if it was done in Ireland she was looking at over 6 weeks recovery before she would be allowed to fly home. His advice was, makes more sense for her to get home, he's written a fit to fly letter for her and prescribed strong painkillers. They fly out of Ireland tomorrow at 12.30 and Bob's managed to get a straight through flight to Brisbane via Singapore. Bec my niece is contacting Sue's doctor to arrange for her to go straight to Brisbane hospital.

Obviously we are so disappointed that we won't be seeing her, but tbh I'm more worried about how she'll manage the flights. Such a sad end to a holiday she was so looking forward to.

That's so sad, Jen. My thoughts for your sister and her flight back home - I do hope the hospital in Brisbane can sort out the reconstructive surgery.

Oh Jen, what a horrid ending to the holiday and I'm so so very sorry you won't get to see her.
Fingers crossed for an as comfortable as possible flight back home for her (make sure they ask for assistance at both airports if not already done), and I hope she manages to get the surgery done asap x

Hope everything goes well.
Does she have travel insurance? This may cover any extra costs. get her a wheel chair at the airports. She shoul then get on the plane first even before the first class
passengers. We had one for my wife as she found it difficult to walk far after her hip replacement.

Please let us know what happens

Oh no Jen :( I wish her a relatively comfortable journey home and hopefully, she can be operated on quickly once she gets home. Heartbreaking for you not being able to see her.

Well I suppose the ray of sunshine here is that your sister has now been properly diagnosed and will be treated appropriately Jen.
Very sad news that you won't be able to see her, but it sounds like it can't be avoided.
