Good Morning Friday

Postby JanB » 08 Sep 2023, 06:17

Morning everyone

Clear sky, so another warm day 8-)

Up and out in a minute, to attack the lavender. We need to get as much done as possible, before next door's guests go tomorrow, as the dogs will then be let out and I really don't fancy cutting stuff back with those dogs quite so close

Washing out and Hugo should be here sometime today with the new gas bottle. Then again, he was supposed to be here last week, but ran out of the big one's that we have

As requested, we are having fish finger butties for breakfast

Have a good day everyone, whatever you'er doing xx

Morning! :D

Jan, I love a fish finger butty, but not for breakfast ;) xx

It's our last day here, home tomorrow - the week has flown by! It's been really relaxing and we've been so lucky with the weather. We're going for a stroll along the front this morning, up to the dog-friendly beach, then this afternoon back to the lovely tearooms at Highdown for the cream tea we've been promising ourselves all week :)

Have a good day everyone :) xx

Good morning everybody.
The sun is trying to come out so it is going to get warm

Had a wonderful morning back at school yesterday. I talked to a class of both boys and girls what it was like going to school during the war.
I was able to show them a ration book, an identity card and a book of petrol coupons.
Showed them how we had to do long division without a calculator and took old coins, a farthing, hfpenny, sixpence and a florin.
One of the teachers filmed it on video so I can watch what I did. Very interesting and sometimes amusing.

All the children said they enjoyed it.
Today I am aiting for one of the charity shops-BHF to come and pick up some items I no longer need or want. If they come early enough will go out shopping.
I never liked fish fingers so would not eat a fish finger buttie.

Have a good day everybody.

Morning all, it was misty and quite nice when I walked Bill.

Forecast to be furnace-like later so I’ve changed the beds before it warms up too much, didn’t fancy fighting with duvets in the heat. Just waiting for the Tesco delivery now.

Joe will be back at lunchtime and Amanda’s home for a few days so she’s staying tonight, Joe’s going out with a friend as it’s the lad’s birthday so she’s picking him up afterwards and then coming here. It’ll be lovely to see her, she’s up next weekend too as it’s her mother’s birthday.

Kaz, so glad you’ve had a lovely week :)

Have a good day all :D

Sounds amazing Cruiser and lovely that there is a record of it too :D

By breakfast, we've only just had it ;)

Too hot to be outside working, so had to stop, but looks really good.

Caught nosy knickers having a peer over the fence when we came back from a coffee break  He then pretended to look at his trees instead

Morning all

A quick one from me as I need to get myself ready and leave in half an hour. Got the day off, taking Nadine to an eye appointment and then helping her with some bits in their garden. She's providing lunch and wine / prosecco :Hi:
Meeting up at friends this evening to watch the Rugby World Cup kick-off - will be a good evening.

Have a lovely day all x

Morning all :D

More lovely sunshine 8-)

Not sure I could manage fish fingers for brekkie either Jan :?
You've been very lucky with the weather this week Kaz, enjoy your last day.
Cruiser what a lovely day for all concerned.
Nice to have Amanda for the weekend Jo.
Lunch with wine sounds good Ria.

Ed's post op appointment went very well, they are really pleased with his progress and said it shows he's doing his exercises. He told them his RSM (Regimental Sargeant Major) keeps him on his toes so they sent a 'well done' to me too  Apparently they will see him again in a years time to do x-rays of his hips and knee to see how it's all settled. He was very sore by the time he got home though, sitting in a car with little leg room for a nearly 6hrs round trip wasn't much fun. That plus all the sitting while waiting to be seen didn't do him any favours.

Wash day and bed change day for me. That and a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon will keep me busy today.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Afternoon all, late on parade today. It’s the most stupendously gorgeous day and we set out at 10am for a stroll down by the harbour - we only got back at 12.30! There is to be a maritime and seafood festival this weekend , plus the national sailing championships based at the yacht club, so Howth is going to be mega busy! I’ve never seen such a set up here, three different stages, a circus tent, various booths and stalls, food trucks, the whole length of the prom. I popped into the hairdresser to make an appointment, so there was some chat there. Then we decided to have “elevenses” at the cafe beside Miss Osc’s office and she came out and joined us for a while. It was just lovely sitting there in the sunshine, nothing to do and all day to do it, it was like being on holiday. Finally, Edward wanted a new case for his phone so we strolled back to the local phone shop and finally decided we really should come home. I was hanging out washing at 7am and more when we got up so they’ll be nice and dry. Edward is improving daily thankfully.
