Annual Road Fund Licence renewal

Postby TheOstrich » 22 Oct 2023, 13:57

Someone told me today that from March next year, you'll no longer be able to renew your road tax through a Post Office. It will be online / telephone only.
And I think the telephone service is a fully automated one.

I can't find any confirmation of this ..... has it been announced?

According to t'Interweb the PO is operating on an extension to its old contract, but that runs out on March 31st 2024. No sign of any new contract as yet.

I still get a renewal notice from DVLA and then pay online by card. I have been doing it that way since the tax disc was scrapped some years back. I save the online receipt as a .pdf to print it off and then keep it in the glovebox, just in case. I do the same with the MOT and insurance note.

This works fine till you have a card with a statement address outside the UK as well as an account address inside the UK.

Then it doesn't work. The PO will accept the card at the counter but the online will not.
