No more antlers

Ho hum. Not a nice start to the day, won't make you feel ill with it but I'm sure you can imagine. Our poor carpet is beyond help.
It seems the antler triggered a bad colitis attack, poor Minnie, I feel so guilty that we gave her this thing as such a treat. It was awful, she was going round the garden with it coming out both ends. She did get through the antler piece very quickly, but even so she can't have any more.
The good thing was we saw the lovely Alison, who was delighted to see Minnie - and vice versa
Oh and we weighted her and she's lost about 2.5 kg, so that's good.

But I am quite amazed that she has managed to chew the antler. My sister has one for their dog and it's as hard as anything and the dog cannot chew it at all; just gnaws and gnaws and nothing happens? I must ask her where they got theirs from

There are different parts to the antler meriad. This bit was quite smooth, others are from lower down and more sort of ribbed; we spoke to both stallholders on Monday and both said there was no difference.
Alison was surprised too, but we all agreed it's just not worth the risk of trying another. Thing is, even if she had it slowly, and we kept taking it away, it's still in the end not doing her any good.

We were told to give her just a little of her normal food, so I did that, she ate it, and threw it up half an hour later
She'd had an anti-sickness injection too. I'm now going to ignore the supposed current thinking of feeding them through it and starve her now till tomorrow morning, I just can't face any more of it today.

Like the one that Ria's sister's dog has though, Billy's seems to be indestructible but it was 'ridgy' when we bought it and not at all smooth.

Oh gosh no don't feel guilty Jo! I did read up all about them, as well as talk to the stallholders so we all thought we were doing the right thing
I would still be tempted to let her have another one that looked more like yours, and keep a close eye on it/her. Not for a while though

No!
Which is why I've gone ahead and ordered one...I do reckon the one we had must have been unusually easy to get through.
I won't be giving it to her for a while, but I'm sure she'll be fine again in a few days, so long as she stops managing to hold pills in her throat then spit them out
