Unidentified Frozen Objects.

Postby Workingman » 07 Jun 2024, 14:02

Same as Saundra I am emptying the freezer. This last week or so I have had some... err... interesting meals. Now that all the meals are gone I am on to the other bits and bobs. Some things are identifiable because they are in supermarket bags or boxes - peas, sweetcorn, Ostrich steaks, but then there's all the other stuff...

Thus far I have found:

Five pizza base dough balls
Five bags of pepperoni for the above
Two tubs of tomato sauce, also for the above
Two packs of mozzarella - there's a theme going on here
A tub of satay sauce
Two bags of curry sauce
A huge bag of mixed chilies
Three tubs of mushy peas
A big tub of home-made Swedish meatballs, individually frozen
Two portions of Jaegerschnitzel sauce

The thing is that I have no meat, chicken or fish.

I need to do a shop and then a cookathon, but this time I will mark the containers with an indelible pen. ;)

It’s usually random bread items which fill our fridge. I’ll open a pack of rolls or bagels or whatever, realise we’ll not eat them all before they go stale and stick them in the freezer to use at a later date. Every couple of months I then create a load of space in there by emptying them all into the bin.

Well now. After the shop I am on my way to two chicken curries and a chicken Satay. I got some haddock to go with the mushy peas and some chips. And now I am beating the living daylights out of some pork loin chops to make Jaegerschnitzels to go in containers. They will all go in the freezer as my version of ready meals.

So that's eight meals from bits that could have been thrown out. :o

Not sure what to do about the meatballs as I have no zip-lock bags for the gravy / sauce.

However, had I been organised I would not have had to go through all this.

Jo, please don't throw bread in the bin. Cut it into chunks and give them a spray of oil and roast slowly (or deep fry) then give them to the birds.
